Rhett - Savannah
Rhett
Description
Rhett, a restaurant near the Riverwalk, tantalizes with its delightful ambience and attentive service, though opinions on food consistency vary. While some patrons rave about the exceptional fresh seafood and knowledgeable staff, others lament recent declines in food quality, citing cold and unappetizing dishes. The restaurant, located within a hotel, features a higher price point, yet many appreciate the culinary experience enough to return. Additionally, special events, such as private dinners, have been praised for personalized touches. As the restaurant transitions from its summer menu, it remains a topic of mixed reviews among frequent visitors.

We had the trout and risotto tonight with a beautiful salad. All the ingredients were unbelievably fresh!! I also highly recommend the truffle fries :
Wonderful restaurant near the Riverwalk with prompt seating. The entire wait staff assisted all tables, providing attentive and courteous service. Having multiple servers really enhanced the experience. The food was excellent, though a bit expensive—understandable given its location inside a hotel on the Riverwalk.
We had a fantastic brunch at Rhett. The caramel almond milk latte was perfectly balanced—not overly sweet—and topped with just the right amount of foam. The cinnamon vanilla French toast was bursting with flavor and complemented beautifully by a side of fresh mixed berries. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for, and the friendly, well-paced service made us feel comfortable and unhurried during our entire visit.
THE MICROAGGRESSIONS at this place were off the charts. I recently visited and did not feel welcomed at all. I arrived at a reasonable time for my reservation, and upon arrival, we went to the hostess station to check in. The host immediately looked at us with a smug expression. As I was telling him my name, which starts with an “I,” he pointed to another stereotypical Black name and asked if that was it. My guests and I were shocked and in disbelief. After repeatedly stating that my name starts with an “I,” I could not believe he made that assumption. I would never come back here again if this is how you continue to treat guests of color. Shame on the owners and management for allowing this kind of behavior at your establishment. Price per person: $50–60
Friends recommended Rhett near the Savannah, Georgia waterfront as a quick stop during my drive down to Florida, so I decided to give it a try for brunch. The restaurant is beautifully situated inside The Alida Hotel, and the decor is classic, clean Americana — definitely inviting at first glance. Upon entry, there are two bars, one on each side. I sat at the larger bar to the right. The bartender was pleasant, but he appeared overwhelmed and working alone, which set the tone early on. Unfortunately, brunch itself was a letdown. I ordered the Alida Burger with shoestring fries. While the burger was a hearty double patty with cheese and a house “special sauce,” it lacked flavor and any real sense of uniqueness. Honestly, it reminded me that even a Big Mac manages to deliver more personality. The shoestring fries were overcooked and somehow still served cold. Presentation-wise, the plate was simply boring — no visual appeal at all. The bright spot of the experience was Tatiana, who brought my food. She was polite, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. She checked in, made sure I had utensils, and promptly brought ketchup and hot sauce without me having to ask — solid service on her part. Nice job, Tatiana — definitely 5 stars for her. Before leaving, I ordered a double espresso, which took about 15 minutes to arrive. This was toward the end of brunch service, even though the restaurant advertises brunch until 2 p.m. Will I return? No. Would I recommend Rhett to others? Unfortunately, I can’t. I don’t usually write or post negative reviews, but I felt this experience was worth noting. At least Tatiana earned perfect marks, where other people and aspects did not.
