My friend had the She Crab soup and the Fried Green tomatoes and I had the pan seared grouper with potatoes and green beans. Our food was really good. We each had a cocktail mine was a Strawberry mock-tail with vodka added a d it was delicious. We shared desserts of chocolate cake and pecan pie! Service was fantastic. I highly recommend this place. What Archibald Schmeler doesn't like about The Pirates' House:
I have been a patron of the Pirate House for many years. I was very disappointed by the limited selection on your current menu. We wanted scallops and shrimps, but they said you couldn't get scallops. I thought it was weird because we could get Scallops in another restaurant. So we both ordered the grilled shrimp and crab cake. The vegetables were cold and the shrimps were boiled over. View all feedback.
Appetizer, soup and meals were amazing, our waitress Pam was great! A perfect dinner all around.
Went for our anniversary and requested a private table stating it was our Anniversary. We received a pretty quite table however not once was our Anniversary mentioned when the table next to us had theirs mentioned repeatedly. The food was excellent but we waited forever for waters and the room was warm. By the time we received the water, the ice had melted. The drinks tasted like they were made with super cheap alcohol and one of them tasted like a kindergartener made. I would go back for the food but nothing else.
Always a great meal and ambiance cannot be beat! First time trying the lunch buffet and it was good. Decent selections and surprise dessert at the end.
I wasn’t going to post a review at first, then I changed my mind when I realized that these reviews are very helpful when choosing a restaurant. I should have adhered to the bad reviews and the minimal amount of stars that were given to this restaurant and saved my money. We were there Friday night. We had reservations, two weeks in advance. My husband is 6’5” and I am 5’7” and the waitress sat us at the smallest table in the entire restaurant against the wall, where we could barely move our legs. The restaurant was not crowded so we couldn’t understand why she sat us there. Nevertheless we sat there and waited about 10 minutes for our waiter Tom to arrive. Tom was focused on two other larger parties maybe with about 4 to 6 people in them so he wasn’t in a big rush to bring us water or bread. Our food was not worth the money, overpriced, not much taste at all. We paid $85 for shrimp gumbo with about 5 shrimps in it and my husband had the ahi tuna. He said it was ok. We drank water. $85 for two meals. Definitely not worth the price. The shrimp gumbo was less than average. Service was just OK. Nothing to brag about, this place is not a big deal. The parking lot is too small. I would not recommend the Pirates House to anyone. Dine there if you like overpriced bland tasting food!!!
This was a fun experience while visiting Savannah—very historical and good food. Service was wonderful. Varied menu allows something for all. The she crab soup really might be the best in town. The biscuits—oh my. So yummy. Parking was a breeze.
