Le Sénéchal - Sauveterre-de-Rouergue

This is an oddity in that it is a modern minimalist decor restaurant situated in a very old and historic town in a modern building. The town is quiet, so quiet that when we visited the restaurant to confirm our Sunday lunch booking during a...week day no one was there; but it was open and functional on Sunday for the traditional dejeuner dimanche and appropriately most of the clients were French families. We liked that. It was a typical Sunday lunch in France, sophisticated, many courses, leisurely, good. I suppose in a way, we expected something more from a Michelin rated restaurant having dined in many,, I could not fault the food, but maybe the wow factor was missing. Service was very polite and efficient. The decor was a bit too minimalist for any romantic or even cosy feelings about it. One great bonus was to work off the lunch by wandering around this delightful medieval town in the afternoon fetching up in the town square and watching a boule match, That was very French.

One of our most pleasant and memorable dining experiences. A fresh Roquefort salad, tender fresh fish with a hint of rosemary accompanied by the most delicious combination of fresh seasonal vegetables including fennel. Dessert was an incredible fresh apricot mousse like sorbet. So fresh and...all reasonably priced. Service was suitably attentive and a perfect lunch time setting. Definitely stop here for lunch if you are touring in the area. Quality fresh food.

French version lower for father's day, we get my dad a voucher to treat him and my mum in a lovely restaurant. we bought two "menus tradition" for them at the sénéchal, ahead of time. sadly, they both have been extremely disappointed by the...quantity of food each dish was good and well presented, but it felt like being served samples the service a fly ended up in my dad's glass of wine but they had to pay for the replacement. they did not get the feeling that the staff really loved food and wanted to treat their customers. they much preferred the "restaurant du vieux pont" in belcastel where they went last year and that they found absolutely fantastic in terms of food and staff, with a lovely message on their table when they arrived. * we have offered to my parents, as every year, meals in a gourmet restaurant. the Senechal disappointed them a lot, in terms of quantity of food the dishes were good and well presented, but seemed to be samples and the welcome disappointing a fly arrived in my father's glass of wine, which had to pay for his replacement they did not feel particularly well received. last year they had been charmed and delighted to the "restaurant du vieux pont" in belcastel by the quality of the nursery, the presentation, the sufficient quantities and the exceptional reception of the staff

Habitués à l'itinérance hôtelière , nous avons été très déçus par ce 4 étoiles .À notre arrivée dans la chambre nous découvrons deux petits lits ...dommage pour un jeune couple ...une chambre vieillotte , une baignoire vétuste, à la propreté douteuse ....une chambre sans charme et sans confort .Petit déjeuner frugal pris en salle , pas de buffet ce qui implique un manque de choix .Nous ne conseillons pas cet endroit .
