We enjoyed the family-style fish fry, and the food was excellent. The meal included batter-fried cod, German potato salad, fritters, and coleslaw—all of which were delicious. The chocolate cheesecake was fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant truly captured the essence of old-world Germany. While passing through the area, I decided to make a special trip for the Friday Fish Fry. The fish was delicious, featuring a light, crispy breading and flavorful haddock. Excellent and authentic German fare! The best Sauerbraten I have ever had (with one possible exception). A beautiful and quaint venue that reminds me of Bavarian. Also, what a beautiful place for a wedding! I wholeheartedly recommend!
We loved the atmosphere. The staff is very inviting and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made perfect suggestions for us as far as what we'd like. She was a sweetheart as well! The food was DELICIOUS!!!! We will certainly go back!
Very friendly and gemutlich restaurant. Literally means “small village” haus (restaurant). Owner Rebecca and server Stacey were both so friendly and helpful. We went for my mom’s birthday and they both sang Happy Birthday to her. German food is delicious and authentic (we are German and know the difference). Draft German beer nice and cold, and signature Old Fashion cocktail yummy. Loved the bacon wrapped liver appetizer. Worth the drive from Madison.
