Neat place tucked in the old hotel by the river. The tables have the grille inset and you sit around while the chef cracks jokes and cooks your food. We had a combo of sushi and grilled meat and veg. Fun to watch the chef flip his knives and tap out a rhythm on his salt and pepper shakers. Food was tasty, large portions and a fun atmosphere. What User doesn't like about Samurai Japanese Steak House:
I love Teppanyaki & Japanese food, but this place was terrible. I went with my wife on birthday & it was such a letdown. Way overpriced for soggy vegetables & unappetizing meat cooked by a semi-entertaining chef. The table took forever. Drinks were also way overpriced. I think they need to change the food, the prices, or both. Alternatively, change the restaurant completely. It's a shame that it's even associated wit... View all feedback.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic, which is quite unexpected for a place located in the Bessborough. It's a lot of fun to watch the chefs cook right in front of you, and the kids really enjoy it too. If you go with a small group, be ready to share your table with others, which may not be ideal for business meals. The staff was excellent with our 3-year-old, even making him special chopsticks so he could fully enjoy the evening.
We had our anniversary dinner at the Samurai Steak House that is right in the Bessborough Hotel. We love the food and they cook it right in front of you as you enjoy the visiting with the other guests that are seated at your table . You can sit at a private table but we always like one that other guests can sit with us and we can visit. The food is the best that we have had in the city and lots of it too! The next time we eat there I think we will just order a single entree and split it, because there is so much food that we could not eat. There was even families dining in there and the kids loved the food also. When in Saskatoon the Samurai is a must for us!
Let's begin with the positive aspects. The food at this restaurant is outstanding. The sushi contains high-quality fish and the steak was cooked to perfection. I would definitely return for the food alone. However, the night got off to a rough start. The hostess seemed disorganized and we were moved to multiple tables before finally being seated. Despite being at a supposedly less busy table, it took 25 minutes for our order to be taken. This was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant was not even half full at 8:25pm. Thankfully, the delicious food somewhat made up for the rocky beginning to the evening.
