We are a full-service pub-style restaurant located in the heart of downtown Sarnia's cultural and historic district, offering a diverse menu including appetizers, lunch, dinner, and gluten-free options. Enjoy a great view of the St. Clair River while listening to local musicians on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, as well as Celtic music matinees on Sundays and open mic nights. Our banquet rooms on the second floor are perfect for special events. Celebrating 40 years in business, Ups N' Downs is a truly local pub with walls adorned with photos, maps, and artifacts showcasing the history of Sarnia and the surrounding area. Cozy up by the fireplace in winter, or enjoy the warm weather with bi-fold doors opening to the street in summer, overlooking the St. Clair River. Come join us and experience our welcoming atmosphere, where, as the Irish Proverb says, you're only a stranger once.

My sister-in-law, my nephew, and I went to Ups N' Downs to enjoy a light meal and be social. My nephew, who is three years old, accidentally pulled the fire alarm, not knowing what it was, so quickly that we didn't see this happen until it was too late. I immediately ran to the bar to let the servers know that it was a false alarm and that my nephew mistakenly pulled the alarm. One of the servers was kind enough to say it's ok and was very nice about it, so we continued on with our meal. Later during our experience, the owner, John, came to our table to tell us that he now had to pay $150 for the false alarm and had to get this fixed. We CONTINUOUSLY apologized for this, to which he told my sister-in-law "control your child". I have NEVER had an experience like this anywhere I have dined, let alone a restaurant I have been to many, many times. On top of this, we had horrible service. I've never been so disrespected in a restaurant until this day. It was a sincere mistake which happens in many places by children. When you get your fire alarm fixed, put a cover over it to avoid telling other families to "control your child". I will always tell people about this experience when they bring up the business' name.

I'm sure the night life here on the weekend would be fun. The food was middle of the road, but the service was great. I was there on open mike night which a brochure said it starts at 9pm...I was told not until later. If you go for open mike, go after 10pm on Sundays.

I used to love this barGood beer, great live music, casual atmosphere.

Food and service were great. You really need to put a sign at the front door of Front St. Two of our parties ran around the block to see if the entrance was on the other side before we circle back

The food was really great. But the service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and totally took care of us. It was the best place I've ever eaten.
