A longtime favorite spot with mixed reviews, Up and Down offers a lively atmosphere and decent food. However, recent inconsistencies have left some customers unsatisfied. On the bright side, gluten-free options are plentiful and well-prepared. Friday nights are especially popular for Tony James' delicious curries. The staff is generally friendly, but some have reported disappointing experiences with service and food quality. Overall, Up and Down is a hit or miss depending on the night, but with dedicated gluten-free options and a fun vibe, it's worth a visit for those in Sarnia.

My sister-in-law, my nephew, and I went to Ups N' Downs to enjoy a light meal and be social. My nephew, who is three years old, accidentally pulled the fire alarm, not knowing what it was, so quickly that we didn't see this happen until it was too late. I immediately ran to the bar to let the servers know that it was a false alarm and that my nephew mistakenly pulled the alarm. One of the servers was kind enough to say it's ok and was very nice about it, so we continued on with our meal. Later during our experience, the owner, John, came to our table to tell us that he now had to pay $150 for the false alarm and had to get this fixed. We CONTINUOUSLY apologized for this, to which he told my sister-in-law "control your child". I have NEVER had an experience like this anywhere I have dined, let alone a restaurant I have been to many, many times. On top of this, we had horrible service. I've never been so disrespected in a restaurant until this day. It was a sincere mistake which happens in many places by children. When you get your fire alarm fixed, put a cover over it to avoid telling other families to "control your child". I will always tell people about this experience when they bring up the business' name.

I'm sure the night life here on the weekend would be fun. The food was middle of the road, but the service was great. I was there on open mike night which a brochure said it starts at 9pm...I was told not until later. If you go for open mike, go after 10pm on Sundays.

I used to love this barGood beer, great live music, casual atmosphere.

We had a nice family dinner for adults. Very reasonable in price and the food and service was absolutely perfect.

Great bar. Live music. Cold beer. Excellent staff and the owner is very nice.
