I ordered their rib lunch special , the young lady over the phone was real sweet and very informative. The ribs was really goooood and also the potato salad always come through? The only thing got me down was the banana pudding it was not fresh it was already brown when I opened the cup . I will go back just for the ribs or their chicken but I’ll pass on the dessert. What Blake Young doesn't like about J Rodgers Bbq:
Don’t come by after 1pm for a buffet, because you will get a rib and price of cornbread. Forced to order from the lunch menu due to lack of buffet item. Food was mediocre at best. Alabama has a lot better BBQ to offer. This place won’t last much longer with food like this.(Service was pleasant) View all feedback.
Food was great. We did the buffet. Everything had so much taste and was just great food! Definitely going back for sure. Definitely try the fried ribs. And that cornbread...omg!?? Oh and the entrance is at the side of the building.

This was my 1st time visiting here for lunch. I just want to say that this is now 1 of my favorite places for soul food. The customer service food were great. If you're looking for soul food with a buffet, this will be the place to be. Every food I tried on the buffet was great. No complaints at all the fried chicken was everything to me. The best that I've had at any restaurant that services fried chicken. I definitely will be back for some more great southern soul food. ?
Excellent local BBQ and a great value. Baked beans Potato salad are must try sides...
Lunch buffet for two- $41.54. Our first time eating here. First they had fly strips with dead flies hanging from the ceiling around the buffet table. I didn’t see that at first, but once there and looking around while eating… I saw them. There were several vegetables to choose from with ribs, fried chicken legs and wings and cold boiled sausage as meats. I think there was gumbo too, but I didn’t have it. Being a BBQ restaurant, I was expecting the ribs to be smoky and damn good, but overall it was just ok. My wife commented that my ribs are much better and as we drove off we both agreed we were disappointed and it wasn’t worth the price. I will say the fried chicken leg I had was good. The breading was light and crispy. Actually the best thing I had. I told her I’d like to have a to go box of just chicken legs and wings. Just so you know, there is a menu to order from, not just a buffet like we thought when we walked in. We will not go back.
