We came to have dinner at the restaurant for 6 people in total, incl 2 kids (who are quite picky when it comes to food). It was a great experience! The staff was very understanding and despite us being really particular about stuff (special food for kids, dressing on the side of salad, lightly cooked fish ets) they were so lovely and understanding. Food was beoynd delicious: super fresh, everything homemade, best bal... View all feedback.
What Rosalba Messina doesn't like about Osteria La Specola:
we entered at 8.30pm, we ordered two first courses, a second course and a side dish: the first courses (spaghetti with clams and linguine with octopus, pasta cooks in a maximum of 10 minutes) were served at 9.45pm. The real octopus was inedible and chewy, could not be chewed. Given the accumulated delay, we had to cancel the order of the second and the side dish. We left the table hungry and disappointed View all feedback.
This small place is run by a young couple. They will startle you with delicious dishes prepared with high quality ingredients. I had a mouthwatering tuba filet e crusted with black sesame followed by spaghetti alla specola with a combination of seafood. My wife opted for a seafood entree followed by tuna with sesame. Servings are huge and everything was fantastic, including the wine. Prices are moderate considering the quality. Another place you should not miss in Sapri!
Through the door on the street is a small dining room and open kitchen, at the rear a lovely walled garden with tables. We had a linguine with half a lobster (for €18) which was exceptional and a very good spaghetti with razor clams, followed by grilled swordfish and a grilled cuttlefish. The wine list is carefully curated from mostly southern wines at very good prices. We were so impressed that we changed our plans to come back the following night, again we were delighted with this young couple's take on fresh fish. Service couldn't have been more obliging. We found this place through a well known French guide and wouldn't be surprised to see it move up their rankings ...
Went there for their fresh fish, and was not disappointed, really fresh, a lot to choose from (you see them on display before served) nice wines, super antipasto (and super oisters and raw prawns) , went here twice !
I have been here already several times and in my opinion it is the best restaurant of the area. They have a great combination of traditional dishes and original ones with a marked gastronomic touch! I tried most of the menu and I have to confess that I am all the times surprised about the high quality of the foid and bu the amazing taste. My favourite dish the starter of mixed fish, you really cannot miss it! Pastas are also excellent. Ambiance is lovely, they have a beautiful garden where you can eat in summer. Some TIPS: always book in advance as they have very few tables ambiance is calm, so it better fits for a calm romantic dinner than for a loud evening with ten friends for local standards prices are a little higher than the everage, but the difference in the quality is so high that it really woth the small difference you pay! The same food in any other part of Europe would cost at least twice that price!
Ristorante semplice ma con grande cortesia. I piatti sono altrettanto semplici ma presentati con cura e ho mangiato con grande soddisfazione gustativa.
