Thank you very much for having rejoiced this beautiful Sunday.
Excellent assorted appetizers and equally good plini “ on the napkin”. restaurant with open kitchen with active participation of the owner and his family. good price quality ratio.
Around Alta Langa should not miss the rest stop in this farm. The quality of the kitchen and their welcoming as if you were part of their own family will make you want to come back soon p.s. motorcyclists are super welcome p.s.s. wines of own production worthy of note p.s.s.s. spectacular vineyards views
We booked the dinner in the afternoon, which was good because some of the dishes in the fixed menu take a long time to prepare and cook. All the dishes were super delicious and handcrafted in a way that added an extra level to the taste. We were curious about the cooking and the hosts were so generous and shared a lot of ideas with us to improve our Italian cooking at home. Of course the secret ingredients were not revealed.
We came to this tiny little town, Santo Stefano Belbo, in the Piemonte region of Italia so I could run or should I say survive the beautiful but punishing 54K Trail del Muscato race in September 2016. Well the race was hard labor as the translated website predicted but our home base at Gallina Giacinto was wonderful, relaxing, and delicious. We stayed for 3 nights and the setting on a working vineyard was beautiful. The room was clean and comfy with a nice bath and at a reasonable rate. The included breakfast each day was a small feast and the hosts were more than accommodating of our vegan diet. The lovely Luisella, her husband, her Mom Anna, and the staff were amazing. Luisella 's English, while not great, was more than adequate as our negotiated communication of her broken English and our laughable Italian (curtesy of our phrase book just added to the ambience of the experience. For the feast that Luisella prepared for us the night before the race, we simply asked for it to be vegan and she made all the decisions there is no menu and no prices were discussed. It was out of this world wonderful. And somehow despite our politely saying no, we ended up drinking the better part of a bottle of their tasty Brut sparking white wine. (It didn 't seem to adversely affect the race results. Since we needed to head to the race the next morning at around 6:30, she sweetly prepared a breakfast in a basket for us the night before. We came back for dinner after Suzanna 's 5 hour 21k walk and my 10+ hour 54k run . Needless to say we were sore and exhausted but had another wonderful dinner, again with no menu and capped with delicious homemade vegan ice cream. Upon checkout we were amazed to learn that 3 nights plus two amazing dinners for two (both with a bottle of sparkling white wine only cost $350. And that would have included a bottle of Moscato to go if we hadn 't refused it because of our impending flight and wish to not check any bags. What a value! Oh and there was no wireless internet but who cares. (Tip: drive 5 minutes to the info booth at the park at the city center where they have free wireless to download your email, checking with Facebook and then happily go offline until next time! And if you 're not vegan, no problem, they have plenty of meat and cheese to take care of you. If we ever end up here in Piemonte again, you can be sure we will stay and eat here again. 5 Stars!
