Great small restaurant offering delicious local dishes at good prices. Portions are big so don't ask too much. Sanitary could be improved, otherwise fantastic.

It was evening. I really wanted to eat. this restaurant in the gasse is the only one that worked. the waiter didn't speak in English at all, but the Portuguese sitting at the bar helped our desire to eat. the result: a whole dorado 9 euro, a mixture of grilled meat 8 euro. very tasty! original Был вечер. We found O Saloio when looking for a bite to eat for ten of us (three adults and seven children) after sightseeing in Santarem. Set back from the road, the simple courtyard at the front does not give you any indication that this will be a great place to eat, but it is. We managed to completely satisfy all of the children 's needs with various pork and beef dishes (all accompanied with fries, rice and vegetables) whilst the ladies had sea bass with the same sides. I ordered the Iberian pork secret ; this was a plate of slightly more fatty pieces of pork but grilled beautifully and full of flavour. I would heartily recommend this restaurant and I am sure that you will find something on the menu to delight you.
