I was traveling to Santander for a few days and discovered La Galerna. We went in for a lunch seating and couldn't have been happier. The food was authentic Spanish, with some delicious Mexican-inspired dishes, too. The atmosphere was lively, and great prices too. If you're looking for a hidden gem in Santander, this is the place!
Myself and a few friends were looking for a place for dinner during our visit to Santander about a month ago and we stumbled upon La Galerna. They were offering a Mexican-themed tasting menu (about 5/6 distinct dishes for ~20 euros) and two of us decided we would try it. WOW. Each dish was beautifully plated and had it 's own distinct flavor profile, but the tostada de tataki de atun absolutely blew me away. We paired the meal with an ice-cold Pacifico and the tasting menu was topped off with an excellent dessert (pastel de tres leches). We had a great time practicing our Spanish with the waitress, and we were extremely grateful they were able to accommodate our request for the tasting menu because we were informed they normally ask that you call in advance so the kitchen can prepare. The only downside was that we couldn 't finish all the food!! Overall we had a wonderful and unique dining experience and I can 't wait to see what else they have to offer the next time I visit Santander.
Some friends and I went for lunch. While everything we had was delicious, the chipotle shrimp were particularly special. Other standouts include the sea bass and squid many seafood options for the pescatarians among us. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in Santander!
This is a nice place to enjoy some tapas or pincho´s. A friendly place with english speaking staff and delicious food. They have a good range of tapas and pincho’s and we felt very at home here.
I went mid-week and a bit early (8.30pm) for Spain. The restaurant at the back was empty so I elected to eat at one of the tables in the bar which felt more sociable. I choose from the Menu de la Noche. I started with a mushroom risotto which was excellent. The dorada for the main course was cooked to perfection although it sat on a bed of tasty but cold vegetables. I choose the pastel de tres leches for dessert; it looked a bit pale but tasted truly delicious. The service was very good. Definitely recommended.
