We visited a popular Japanese restaurant in Santa Maria a few years ago on our way to Cambria and loved the food. Today, on our way back, we decided to dine there again and were not disappointed. We will definitely be returning in the future! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Ichiban Japanese:
Extremely disappointed with the quality of food. The entry and decor are lovely. Staff was masked with surgical masks. The food was ridiculously expensive for inferior sushi. Literally the worst I’ve ever had. Tasted like what one would get at a bad grocery store. California roll was okay but I don’t like roe and there’s was tons of it. View all feedback.

I recently revisited a restaurant that I had tried before and loved. The food was still delicious, and the atmosphere and friendly staff made it a memorable experience. Even though I don't live nearby, I will definitely make it a point to stop by whenever I can in the future.
As we arrived a few days ago, we stumbled upon a teriyaki restaurant in Washington State. Unlike the many teriyaki restaurants in the area, this small yet nostalgic and cute place served some of the most delicious food I have had in a while. The chicken katsu was very authentic, the sesame green tea was ingeniously flavored and tasty, the light and crispy herbal tempura was delightful, and the gyoza was wonderful. The salad and elk dishes were refreshing with authentic spices. I highly recommend trying their sukiyaki and sushi rolls on my next visit. The environment was great with excellent service, especially towards the ladies. They took great care of my service dog and even brought him water to drink. Thank you very much for this amazing experience and for representing Japanese culture and hospitality in this hidden gem in Santa Maria. Arigato gozaimasu!
Our favorites santa maria Japanese escapade. with vegan options! great service and cheap prices.
This place is home. Been going there for about 18 years now. Same great service and love from the staff.Best tempura in the whole central coast hands down. They cook it with fresh oil every shift. And never mix the shrimp with the vegetables. The nacho roll is spectacular!!.FISH IS ALWAYS FRESH!! that’s what I love the most about Ichiban. Ken and his family always a delight.
