You have to work for this one, and well worth it. Hiking up to the Old Mill is the only way, and certainly helps the appetite. Hiking over a well maintained trail from Nozerego takes an hour and 20 minutes or so..not particularly taxing, with great views. Hiking up from Portofino is steep, lots of steps...but again, well worth the effort. Small menu, different every day, outside dining under a pergola in the mountain... View all feedback.
What nickdring doesn't like about Mulino Del Gassetta:
After hiking from San Rocco we found the Mulino by chance along the way at the last minute so we were quite happy to find out they had a table. We ordered a starter of cold cuts which arrived soon enough and was ok. Next up was pasta parcels with nut sauce and egg pasta with ragù. The nut sauce pasta hadn't been drained properly and so the sauce was very thin. The ragù pasta was fine. After that we asked what was on... View all feedback.

After that we asked what was on the sweet menu but we never found out as it took the lady so long to come to us in the end we gave up! We even had to wait about 10mins to pay. The lady had too many tables to serve and she was on her own. She did her best but it was too much for her.
Worked our way up the stairs from Portofino 74 flights and were rewarded with cold water and a rabbit stew for lunch. The rabbit was delightful and the coffee was a good size and great flavour. The service was prompt and personal. Worth the effort.

We were hiking the national park of Portofino for a few days. A must do since it's so much quiter and varied than the packed with people Cinque Terre coastal path. That day we arrived by boat in Portofino.. Beautiful but so busy and touristy. So we started to walk up hill and found Mulino dell Gasetta: what a beautiful quiet place. An old water mill with deckchairs and a shady terrace. We both had some divine pasta dishes for lunch, great wine and a yummie chocolate dessert. The food and wine are so honest and pure and most of it of local produce. The service was very friendly and good. Can only say; go there. İt beats many other places in the area!
This is a very small place, absolutely charming, a sort of heaven after a nice 60 minutes walk across the park. The owner are delicious, the food (mostly cakes when I tried it is home made, the atmosphere really cosy. An absolute must! (And promised, I have absolutely no relationship to them! I write often reviews on tripadvisor but I am only rarely that positive. Dont go there for a lunch but for a tea and a coffee and a cake in the middle of your day walk within the park.
