We came here with 4 persons. Lovely service by the chefs mother. We had pasta as starters which was authentic Ligurian fresh food. As main course we had some delicious fish and the desert salami cake tiramisu was amazing as well. Gracie we will be back :
While not travelling on a tight budget, its always a pleasure to come across a restaurant that offers great food and great service at a good value price. The L 'Ancora Ristorante in Santa Margherita does exactly that and in a place as tourist orientated as Sanat Margherita and Portifino. Located just one street back from the seafront, it offers a 'Tourist Menu ' of 2 courses plus dessert or coffee for Euro20 pp. One of our best 'finds ' during our last month of travel in the past month we 'd go again at the drop of a hat. Hopefully you get the chance to enjoy it as we did.
The restaurant was one of many recommended by our guide. It had a large ad in the local magazine. We walked by one evening it was very small with 8 tables. All the tables were full and the place looked festive so we made a reservation for the next evening. When we arrived American time of 7:30 the restaurant was empty. There was no one else there so we could have been given a little attention. It filled up at 8:30 with Italians. We ordered the 'specialty of pansoti a pasta stuffed with local green vegetables like spinach with a walnut sauce. It was good. Then we ordered 'grilled fish and a salad. The grilled fish a few white pieces of fish were served on a white plate with a piece of lemon. No presentation. No sauce. The tomato and lettuce salad we ordered was very small. The terramiso ? dessert was small and not outstanding. We were completely ignored. When they removed the dishes, we were not acknowledged. The waitress came over to take our order and was not seen until she asked if we wanted dessert. We contrasted how we were treated as Americans with the warm friendly way that the Italian customers were greeted. The dinner was expensive. In addition the chairs were very uncomfortable. There are many better options in Santa Margherita Ligure.
For our fish dinner during a lovely weekend with friends we went to this restaurant..poor atmosphere and service, the food is ok, not that good. Try another place!
