I don't think you would, unless you lived here. we were suggested in santa cruz and Google maps, it was a 4-minute drive from our hotel, or a 3.5-hour walk! when we were too foot, we thought that there should be one (except 5 minutes along a double-track.) Apple cards came trump (hard to believe, I know) and navigated us, although a residential area, several loud territorial dogs and many hills. So we had a shower when we arrived. it looks like a house that has been converted into a ready-to-sale pub. the service was initially indifferent, but in the latter case we were picked with miniature panels from cheese and ham with our beers. the place began to fill great time (7pm) so we were glad that we arrived early. we finally ordered to eat. the menu was small; good. we had laminated bark (no idea, in the translation lost,) mush (smooth) huh and chips. all perfectly delicious. I forgot to say. the wine selection is enormous. total disproportionate to the business scale. we were recommended a fantastic bottle and a ridiculously low price for it. the number of people rose when the place was filled. they became more and more friendly. we left with our bones on the floor how low the bill was. we suspect that is why it

Where do I start.Found this place through TA. I don't think you would otherwise, unless you lived here.We were staying in Santa Cruz and Google maps suggested it was a minute drive from our hotel, or a hour walk! As we were on foot, we thought there has to be a way' (other than including minutes along a dual carriageway).Apple maps came up trumps (hard to believe, I know) and navigated us though a housing estate, several noisy territorial hounds and a lot of hills. So we had a bit of a thirst on when we arrived. It looks like a house that's been converted into a down-market pub.Service was initially indifferent, but latterly we were plied with miniature platters of cheese and ham with our beers. The place started to fill up big time so we became glad we'd arrived early. We eventually ordered food. The menu was small; good. We had laminated beef (no idea, lost in translation), mussels (huge) chicken and chips. All perfectly tasty.I forgot to say. The wine selection is enormous. Totally disproportionate to the scale of the operation. We were recommended a fantastic bottle and charged a ridiculously low price for it. The staffing numbers increased as the place filled up. They got increasingly friendly. We left with our jaws on the floor at how low the bill was. We suspect this is why it's on TripAdvisor.Summary: bonkers. Just go. (If it's physically possible).
We love this place! It is very close to our regular accommodation. We were here last year and visited every night without fail-and this visit has been the same! The manager is a welcoming guy who always is attentive and remembered us from our last visit, as did his stuff who were the same ladies as last year-always a good sign. Lovely people, always recommending but also advising us when we had ordered too much! The menu is relatively small, but enough and the quality can not be faulted. The laminated beef is probably the favourite, cooked as you like and heavy on the garlic-very tasty even if you are not a garlic lover! I am not particularly a burger person but again their burger is very nice-tender, cheese, mushrooms, barbecue sauce but you can adapt as you please., include an egg if you wish. They pride themselves on their range of wines, principally Madeira and Portuguese of course, across all very reasonable price ranges. The place is about 99% locals and can get very busy, but never rowdy. A really enjoyable experience with a nice view if you get an outside table. Very reasonable prices, helped by the fact that if you order a bottle of wine or sangria, you get a very nice and big complimentary cheese and ham board as a starter, and this applies to every bottle you buy if you are hungry enough! Food is always hot which is a major plus in my eyes as tepid food from a kitchen a few feet away should never happen, but somehow seems to! Well worth testing out! We will be back!-again!
