One of the things I miss terrible in Colorado is good Mexican food. There are many good Taquerias in Santa Cruz, but this is my favorite. Everything is fresh, the beans are freshly cooked after soaking, freshly squeezed Jugo de naranja, excellent salsa bar. The food comes fast, hot and muy sabroso View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Taqueria Vallarta:
Just eh. Everything tasted like it was heated in the microwave and then brought out. Enchilada sauce tasted like marinera sauce and cheese was stuck to the plate, microwaved onto the plate. My son liked his asada tacos. G’Day. View all feedback.

Taqueria Vallarta has a few locations here in Santa Cruz and this one is the more dine in friendly of the two. My friend and I came here after a long night out and I was happy to find some plant based options here for myself. They have a veggie friendly menu that has a lot of options that can be easily veganized by removing the cheese. Fortunately, their beans and rice are vegan friendly here and not cooked in lard or meat stock), so is safe to consume for plant based eaters. You order at the front and receive a number for your order. If paying with card, there's no space to provide a tip, so feel free to leave one in cash or ask to add on to your purchase if you'd like. I went with their Vegetarian Burrito $9.49) without the sour cream or cheese, and because it included guac, it was the clear winner out of all the other options. A simple burrito wrapped around a spinach tortilla for no extra charge my kind of ham. My entree also came with a side of chips where I wholeheartedly used the salsa bar to jazz up.
Stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed the food. I got two asada tacos and an horchata. Tacos had a good amount of meat on them, and the horchata was very good. I also got free chips with my order. They had three different types of salsa, two red and one green, I loved one of the red ones which was the spicy one! My food was ready very very fast. I was still grabbing the salsas and lime when my food was already ready! Service was good and the employees were nice and helpful! It wasn't too busy around the time I went, and was able to find street parking just around the corner!
Never had a bad meal here! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service is always quick and friendly. Typical taqueria vibes inside. They keep it really clean! Salsa bar gets the job done but could be a lot better and more flavorful.
