our meal was great and I really enjoyed seeing Italian dishes that were not the usual Italian restaurant departure, although there were all the old favorites when that is what they wanted. the Sicilian cannolis were a wonderful conclusion to our dinner. View all feedback.
What Carolina Agudelo Echavarria doesn't like about Sugo Italian Pasta:
Been here a few times and want to support our local businesses, but the Eggplant Parmigiano was bland and almost burnt in its “overcooked” state, a la carte for $20. My della casa salad was overdressed and soggy. Disappointed. View all feedback.
Go, Go, Sugo! Seems like a description of a pasta bar sells this super place short. That description sounds similar to a taco bar or ice cream shop where you order at the counter and bring your own food to your table. But this is fantastic full service restaurant. First time there. Sat on patio-nice and warm and dry. Plenty of room, larger tables, pretty quiet. Service was outstanding-they were there right before we needed something. Ordered a bottle of Montepulciano de Abruzzo-excellent at $40. Bread was marginal-this was the only negative. I don 't understand why a really amazing restaurant can 't have great bread, too. It 's usually the first thing the diners taste so it should make the best impression. Anyway, Caesar salad was great to share-tangy dressing, large grated Parmesan and plenty of anchovy fillets. Entrees arrived shortly and were amazing. My wife had the special fresh orecchiette pasta with slow simmered beef and pork in a white wine sauce. Truly scrumptious. My entree was the riccioli corkscrew tube pasta with a red sauce that contained nice mushrooms and some Italian sausage. Very tasty. Portions are very generous so consider sharing a dish. Passed on dessert but maybe next time. The menu looked enticing. Total bill was just over $100 plus tip. Surprisingly affordable. It 's a great place and now it 's on our must do list!
I live the food and the variety of the menu. There are a. Inner if fresh options as well as comfort food options. Something for everyone!
Wonderful menu choices and everything we tasted was superb, including some dishes we were unfamiliar with. This restaurant is small, friendly, and yet serves a delicious selection of typical and atypical Italian fare.
Amazing buttery fettuccine alfredo with mushrooms. Finished my entire bowl!
We were going to see a show at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz and this was close to the venue so I booked it. Everything about the experience was great, the wine, appetizers, main course and dessert. The server was outstanding and we enjoyed the entire experience and would definitely go back again when in Santa Cruz. I would highly recommend it to those who live in Santa Cruz, traveling down there for a few days or before seeing a show at the Rio.
