The food was delicious, but even more with the beautiful view of the shore. It could sometimes get a little loud on the first floor outside seats. The Thai milk tea was too sweet for my personal taste. We have the pad Thai, spring rolls and green curry and we are very happy! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sawasdee By The Sea:
Decided to eat here as this came up often as a vegan friendly restaurant. They definitely keep their word, as they give the option to make a good portion of the menu vegan if asked. We came to eat around 6pm on a Saturday night and was able to score great seating by the window. Staff members were very kind and personable. However aside from the convenience of being literally across the street from the beach and walki... View all feedback.
Where are you ? will you return ?? love you !! Super swell people ! a tradition- please come back !!
When I came this past September 2022, I was so happy to see this place still in business after all these years. I came here for dinner with my boyfriend when we visited Santa Cruz in our first year of dating, and I came here again when visiting Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk with a friend. I really enjoyed the chicken and prawns pad thai. The views from here are also really lovely. I'm seeing that people are reporting that this location has been closed as of January 2022. If that's the case, I am very sad and will miss Sawasdee by the Sea.
I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice to go initially; The lady was very nice on the phone. We didn't have trouble finding parking since it was 30 min before closing. The dessert was surprisingly very good. Perfect texture and coconut sweetness, mango slices were ripe! Hubby ordered the fried catfish, less salt.. and it was very tasty. Love the ocean view... perfect spot for a nice dinner date!
Food (2/5): Pad See Ew was way too salty, the yellow curry was lukewarm, and the Thai iced tea was too sweet. Could definitely step up in terms of cooking. Service (3/5): Restaurant was quite busy and there seemed to only be a couple waitresses, so perhaps this contributed to slow service. It took a while for them to acknowledge and seat us at the entrance and our food order didn't get taken for 20 minutes. Fortunately once I got up to ask and complain about it, the food came out fast and the servers were friendly and helpful. Venue (5/5): Beautiful venue with large glass windows whereby you can see the amazing beach and boardwalk. Restaurant was well decorated and mostly clean.
FOOD was so good! Authentic Thai food. Cooked fast. Spicy means spicy here. Thai iced tea comes with a lot of milk so if you like it like that then good. I should ask for light milk next time because I like mine less milky. Three season fish was good it's tilapia with sweet and sour flavor. Salmon chu chee was good too with Penang curry sauce. Pineapple fried rice was good I liked the pineapple chunks and raisins. VENUE loved the outside patio. They allow dogs! They also provided my pup with a bowl of water. I even ordered him a side of steamed chicken which was perfect for him. The view of the beach was perfect. SERVICE was good. No complaints. She checked on us. Also provided to go containers and even a cup for the leftover Thai iced tea I didn't finish.
