Nice outdoor seating for being with our dog, tho as fog came in it might be too cool for some folk. Tasty IPA. Pay by credit card, no cash. I didn't go inside but the young woman outside was very welcoming and friendly. Easy parking. We'll go back, I expect. View all feedback.
What Kayla B doesn't like about Greater Purpose Brewing Company:
I definitely want to give this place another try because it has a lot going for it, but our first visit was a letdown. First of all, they were out of IPA, and only had 3 other beers to choose from. 3 beers at a decent sized brewery seems odd to me, especially on a Saturday night. We also had a big group with lots of kids and according to the website they have a food truck on Saturday's which we were counting on but n... View all feedback.
Went there for the first time under the new owners. This place has always been a local Jewel. I bought a mediocre six dollar cupcake from the truck outside, and came inside to sample the new beers. The beer was actually exceptional and probably one of the best beers I've had. Where things went wrong was the service. I had my beer, finished it, and waited a half hour before someone offered me to give me another one. They walked by me several times, saw my empty glass, and never acknowledged me. But they were more than happy to talk to their friends the whole time and look on their phone. Amazing beer, but I will never go back because I don't wanna wait a half hour for a second beer.
Great atmosphere for it being in a strip mall. Be prepared to pay 11 dollars for a pint (which is ridiculous) Maybe I'll go back when price drops to 7 or 8 bucks
Stopped in here on a Sunday and they only had 3 beers on tap, so I gotta knock a star off. It is my understanding that they just got swamped the day before and just sold out basically. I do plan to go back and try some other beers next time I'm in Santa Cruz and I'll hopefully move them up to 5 stars. The beer I did have was a Hazy IPA and it was a solid beer. The facility itself was very welcoming with an entire game room, and plenty of seating for everyone. I liked the decor as well, it was loaded up with butterflies and looked really good.
Overall, cool vibe and environment! They have some really fun events at night during the week and weekend. I 've been to comedy night twice now, which has been a bit hit and miss, but overall a fun time out. Gotta say the beer is meh, and just wish they 'd have more of the choices they make you think will be there when you look at the website. Usually there have only been three beers available, though when I went this past Friday they had a fourth choice. I will say they luckily do at least have an alright variety between the three. For example, the person I went there with likes hoppy beer so they got something completely different than me (idk what lol but probz the IPA), but I usually get the Jonah and the Ale blonde ale as that 's closest to what I usually drink. When I 'm at a brewery I usually prefer either amber ales or sours, but as long as it 's not hoppy, I 'm good! So, beer wise, ya know 'cause it 's a brewery, I 'd say it 's meh. Gotta say that up front since it seems to only have a limited selection of beers every time I stop by, unlike the long list of stuff it lists on the website. But it makes up for it in overall vibe, fun things to do/see, and environment. There 's also a lot of games in the game room, though I 've never personally played. Plus soooo many cute dogs everywhere!!! And since I 'm not a hoppy beer type of person, they do always have something I 'm able to drink. Do gotta keep going to the bar for drinks and they do keep your card if you have a tab, but just be sure to remember you have one lol. I 've gone on just a regular night and just chilled with someone with some beers. Which was great. Lots of space between tables outside and fun seating near heated lamps and heated tables. Good vibe every time I went to grab a beer. Really pretty ambiance with the lights overhead once it gets dark! Very picturesque for your Insta or Yelp pics! I 've also been to comedy nights twice now, which they have on Fridays and Saturdays. The first time I went, pretty much everyone was hilarious (except the second act) so def loved that set a lot. They have different people pretty much every time though, so you never really know what you 're gonna get. It 's still an overall fun night out. I just don 't laugh at the ones where I don 't find it funny and def support and laugh when I do think something is funny. Plus be sure to tip if you really like the set! Overall, will be back for comedy nights at least, maybe for trivia nights. Plus really need to bring my Lilo over to check it out!
Literally only 3 beers on tap so it 's not much of a brewery. Light-dark-sour. Big place with a game room. Posted agenda seems busy and apparently very LGBTQ+ friendly. Taco truck posted up outside by the large picnic area. There was a homeless man with all his stuff taking over a table near the bar. 2 girls working were more interested in flirting with an obvious regular. Overall disappointing and the beer wasn 't that good
