Rustic Yoga Retreat in the jungle of Southern Dominican Republic. You are nowhere near any big cities or resorts. The people are poor and very few speak English. They speak Spanish. If you speak French. The owner is German. The food is fresh and local but nothing fancy. The service is family like but good. The accommodations are cabins with no luxury. But clean uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning but it does not get incredibly hot as you are high up on the mountain. It is nowhere near a beach but you can drive to some beautiful ones and the staff will help you with that. There is a very limited bar so, bring some liquor from the airport. The swimming pool is beautiful. There are a lot of stairs to climb each day with no railings. You will see vultures, large bats, snakes, I'm dozens of geckos. The yoga studio is a beautiful platform sticking out over the jungle with an amazing view of the ocean. It is not safe to wander outside the compound unescorted.
