this was an elegant, fun and delicious experience. highly recommended for anyone who is interested in sampling a bit from a common high tee. the new birdcage bar has received the charm and character of the original and has added a new layer of class and elegance, while maintaining some of the ambientes of its earlier life. great experience for a small group of friends. What User doesn't like about Birdcage Lounge:
their high tee is new and they have to work on it. we had to ask for the loud music to turn. only about 50% of what is printed on the high tea menu were what we actually got. there was no explanation of what the articles were. the printed promise of a champagne cocktail was actually blown half a glass. we were told we would have to pay for every tee and coffee if we pointed out that the printed menu was included a se... Their high tea is still new and needs improvement. We had to request that the loud music be turned down. Only about 50% of what was listed on the high tea menu was actually served to us, and there was no explanation provided for the items we received. The promised champagne cocktail was merely half a glass. When we pointed out that the menu included a selection of teas and barista coffee, we were informed that we would have to pay for any additional tea or coffee. Instead, we received a single cup of tea with a teabag, and had to specifically ask for milk. Overall, it was quite disappointing and does not compare favorably to other high tea experiences in Hobart with similar offerings.
This was an elegant, enjoyable, and delicious experience. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in trying a classic high tea. The new Birdcage Bar has preserved the charm and character of the original while adding a new layer of sophistication and elegance, all while keeping some of the ambiance from its earlier days. It's a fantastic experience for a small group of friends.
