You don’t come here for the wifi as it’s the only thing that didn’t work. You come here for the quirky yet luxurious facilities. A beautiful set of three buildings focused around a renovated church. The staff are lovely and always attentive. The rooms are spotless and roomy. The food however is excellent. The restaurant staff couldn’t be more helpful and the quality and portions were ample. What Womanatthebesttable doesn't like about Belfry Inn And Bistro:
Beautiful place: a small group of us ate outdoors on a lovely evening. Some of the food was spectacular: the pasta w. the shortribs was thoroughly delicious and satisfying; the more expensive lamb, in contrast, failed on every level--lacking flavor, poor in presentation, and making us rather sad. The burrata starter was fine but undistinguished; the oysters were terrific; the Caesar salad was nicely done. Our server... View all feedback.
My family and I had a wonderful dinner last night at this restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing. We started with the tomato, mozzarella, and prosciutto appetizer which was delicious, and the pork belly appetizer could have been a meal on its own. The lamb chops, scallops, short ribs, and swordfish special were all exceptional. We also tried three desserts - the key lime tart was my favorite, but the flourless chocolate cake and espresso tiramisu were also delicious. I highly recommend this place for the amazing food and atmosphere, but I must also mention the outstanding service we received. Rob, our server, was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. It was a fantastic experience overall!
Great food and excellent service. Stayed at the hotel and the room was very clean and had interesting features. Will stay here again when in the area.
We had an amazing experience celebrating a milestone birthday at this stunning converted abbey on Scenic 6A. From the moment we arrived, the host and waiter took care of our large party with a warm and professional touch. The martinis and craft cocktails were excellent and arrived promptly, along with a tasty basket of warm rolls. The appetizers and salads were exceptional and plentiful, including tuna tartare, charred octopus, blueberry mango salad, and crab cakes. We tried a variety of main dishes such as lamb wellington, local scallops, roasted duck confit, short ribs, and filet with shrimp surf and turf. Sides of potato galette and asparagus accompanied many of the dishes. Some items were slightly under seasoned, but it was not a major issue. The desserts, including key lime pie, chocolate almond crunch tartlet, and profiteroles, were delicious but unnecessary due to the generous portions. Our waiter, Jafar, was attentive and responded quickly to all our requests with a smile. While the prices were higher for a special occasion, the experience was well worth it. The main dining room and bar were beautifully decorated, and there were also a few private dining spaces available.
This restaurant, housed in a converted church, was highly recommended for its excellent food. The food was indeed excellent - fresh and flavorful. We started with the arugula salad, which was a generous portion with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of dressing. The crab cake and shrimp dish was outstanding, with the best crab cake I've ever tasted. The shrimp were plentiful and delicious, served in a flavorful sauce with a kick. For dessert, we shared a key lime pie that was small but delicious, topped with plenty of fresh cream. Unfortunately, our night was soured by a disappointing experience at the bar before we were seated, which colored our evening and made it difficult to fully enjoy.
Came back after a couple months and the place has not lost its charm. I ordered something familiar since I was in the mood for a delicious meal. I had the apple and spinach salad, baked oysters and the day boat scallops with lobster risotto and asparagus. The food came out in a reasonable time and my server Corinn, was exceptional. Most important to me is that my diet coke remain filled which she did without my asking. She was very attentive, coming by every once in a while to ask how everything was. (Everything was perfect). I never give a rating of 10 to anyplace but this night the Belfry got a 10. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and the baked oysters were scrumptious. Then my entree came out. The presentation was gorgeous. The long stems of asparagus were sitting atop the lobster risotto, surrounded by the perfectly seared scallops. I usually cut the tops off my asparagus wherever I go since I don't really like chewing on stems but what a pleasant and unexpected surprise that the stems of this asparagus were tender and and flavorful. I savored every bite of my dinner and my palate was satisfied with the wealth of flavors presented by our chef. Again, thanks to Corinn for making us feel welcome and pampered. Great work. (We'll be back).
