I believe this restaurant serves more to the American palette and people who are just trying out Korean food for the first time. The atmosphere was warm and the decorations looked very nice. However, the food was lacking and the kiosk ordering method gave me a feeling that this place doesn’t know if they want to be fast casual restaurant or a nice sit down place. The two soups we ordered were expensive—higher prices... View all feedback.
What Bonnie Lin doesn't like about Hansang Korean In Virg:
The food is okay but you have to wait soooo long even for a small bowl of rice.. They bring 3 small side dishes per table WITH your food.. so you just sit there starving for 20-30 minutes. They rarely check the iPad ordering system so you have to ask the staff for stuff. What’s the point of the iPad. Friendly staff. View all feedback.
I've never given a one-star review before. This is my first. The food at this restaurant is too salty and too sweet: it's not very authentic. I can handle it, but as a native Korean it doesn't really hit the spot for me. However, the reason this is dropping to one star is because of how rudely I was treated by some of the staff at this establishment. No matter how busy they were, a bit of patience would have gone a long way. I asked a simple question, and was spoken to rudely by an older Korean woman who worked there, though. I'm not sure if she's a chef or an owner or what, but the way she spoke to me was inappropriate and I will never be going back nor recommending this restaurant to anyone. I have never once left a one-star rating. The food itself is neither particularly bad nor particularly good. It was too salty and sweet, so it was too irritating for my taste. What really offended me was the very displeased and unpleasant response of a Korean working there to my question. As a customer, when you simply ask whether it is possible, you can simply answer that it is impossible. What kind of speech is it to ask how it is possible? I will never go to that restaurant again, but I do not want to recommend it to anyone.

I rated this restaurant one star and left negative feedback due to an order issue. I am updating my review to clarify that the problem was a minor misunderstanding. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak directly with the owner, and we resolved all the issues. Despite the previous concerns, I continued to order from this restaurant via Uber Eats, as the quality and cleanliness of the food are exceptional. Among the Korean restaurants in Virginia Beach, this establishment stands out for its commitment to fresh ingredients and a clean dining environment.
It was excellent, deliciously clean! We will come back here more than once!
This place has a wide selection of entrees that taste great! A large variety of Korean dishes that are common as well as uncommon. Friendly and professional staff and they usually have K-Pop playing. Hoping they'll someday add yangnyeom gejang to the menu. They no longer sell their home-made kimchi unfortunately. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended. Update 3/18/2023: Their selections are still great as ever. Protip: Even though they close most nights at 8pm, get there before 7:30pm or you risk being told that their kitchen is closed. They are not trying to stay open any later than they want to, especially with how busy they get on some evenings. Update 8/13/2024: They've now installed tablets at each table to make it easier to order and they have started serving kimchi again to-go, but cash only for that item. Still great food and service.
