Was so pleased to be back at La Pomme d'Or. The meal and service was great. Was sad that Véronika and Didier had left , however the new attentive and welcoming owners were superb. Wishing them the next happy 30 years in Sancerre. View all feedback.
What Élisabeth Guilbert doesn't like about Auberge la Pomme d'Or:
Avoid this place if you don't speak French. The staff were devoid of emotion and made no effort to communicate. No one asked if the food was OK; it was good but limited and nothing special for the price per head. Very surprised it has...Michelin plaque outside. Very disappointing evening. View all feedback.
Excellent meal, of very good quality in a quiet setting, a little far from the city center. The kitchen is simple but well done; We note the quality of the cute net served with its girolles. The parts of fish and meats are copied. To recommend without hesitation, but it is better to book
Good place to remember: tasty cuisine, you notice the mastery of the trade: it is not industrial food disguised in fact home, pleasant and efficient service. improvement axis: more vegetables and at least one vegetarian dish.
A pleasant room, an efficient service. a choice between the menu of the day, entry, dish and desert and a menu offering a choice of 3 entries, 3 courses and 3 desserts. The kitchen is neat, tasteful with seasonal products. the snail cassolette is cooked in an original way, the kidneys are beautifully prepared.
Really nice and delicious service quick and smiling good mood and the final never seen, the chef's daughter is driving us to our hotel because of a stormy rain! thanks again for this excellent moment
We asked our hotel for a recommendation to eat the day we arrived in Sancerre and they recommended the Pomme d'or and rang to see if we could get a table, luckily we did as it was a Monday and not many restaurants were open, perhaps mainly to do with torrential downpour we had that evening. We arrived for our 7.30pm reservation and shown to our table, our first impressions were of the waitress being a little 'off' with us, it appeared that she knew most of her clients apart from us and another table and gave these people exceptional service! We were not put off and was given a menu, there was nothing in the menu for our vegetarian friend but there made her a salad. I had the beef and it was beautiful, the desert was very good too and we asked for a recommendation of a red wine as we had had white with our meal and 2 of our friends had cheese for dessert and fancied a glass of red, by now the locals had left and she came into her own recommending a 2009 Sancerre from a local winemaker and my goodness it was beautiful this has slotted into number 1 place of my favourite red wines. We took a picture of the bottle but were advised that the wine grower made this especially for this restaurant, we still tracked this wine grower down and bought our red Sancerre from him, not as nice as the 2009 but still delicious.
