Le Comptoir - San Rafael

My family loves to go there! Food is delicious, especially when Bone Marrow is on the menu!

Perhaps the best French restaurant in the Bay Area, remember Le Comptoir, as what Larkspur's Left Bank was in its fame days, when it was operated by its creator. From the wines to the exquisitely prepared main dishes, everything is perfect in Le Comptoir, for lack of a better word. The attention to detail is amazing as salads that are properly dressed - that may seem a little; but it brought me back to my childhood, and as my father used to prepare salads. The menu changes weekly, which means that I may have to wait before the cut flank steak and the pork pliers are offered again. Le Comptoir leaves the Left Bank - the most famous French bistro of the county - in the dust. What is not to say is that the Left Bank is not an excellent French food, but its red leaves something to be desired, and I had mixed experiences in 2022 with their main courses. Value-for-money puts Le Comptoir at the top of my list of SSS categories restaurants in Marin as a whole, and certainly San Rafael. I will update this review as necessary.

Staff and owners very personally. Food was excellent. The ambience is missing.

We had an absolutely fabulous experience! Our food was wonderful and was out! The lamb was especially unforgettable, definitely a wow. We picked up a big bottle of wine from her shop next to the restaurant to couple with our meal, yum! The owners were so beautiful. We will make this a regular event!!
