New Kwok Wah - San Mateo

I've been dining here for as long as I can remember—35 years now—and it has always been my go-to spot for Chinese food with my family. I always begin my meal with the sizzling rice soup and a selection of their enormous pot stickers. They truly offer the best value for Chinese food south of San Francisco. The staff is incredibly friendly, remembers our preferences, and is always welcoming every time we visit. We absolutely love this place!

We received attentive and polite service during our visit. To our surprise, we were given a 10% discount for an unknown reason, and we hadn't even requested it. The pot stickers were quite large, and the shrimp with walnuts was perfectly balanced—not overly sweet, just right. The shrimp with snow peas and water chestnuts was excellent as well. Our waitress kindly offered us samples of their cheeky dish and a delightful coffee-chocolate-yellow pudding dessert. It almost felt as if she anticipated that I would write this review! But she didn’t.
