Torta chilanga OMG THE BOMB DOT COM!!! Torta is stacked with fried egg, ham, chorizo, hotdog meat, bacon, jalapeño! The bread roll is nice and soft and a little sweet! Priced very nice too! View all feedback.
Burrito was 10$ which is reasonable but I was starving and was so bad I didn’t finish it. Tasted stale and old
This hole in the wall is smack dab on Middlefield road along with a lot of Latino shops. I've been wanting to try this place since my friend told me about it. They take card now, used to be cash only apparently. The menu is also entirely in Spanish, which wasn't a problem for me since I can read some Spanish (thanks 7 years of learning Spanish). Google/Google Translate is your friend if you need it though. I got the La Cubana which has pretty much all the meats: milanesa de res (thin pan fried beef), jamón (ham), chorizo (come on you better know this), pierna (breast meat), and salchicha (sausage). All sandwiches come with avocado, mayo, salsa de Xipotl, caramelized onions, refried beans, queso fresco cheese, and slices of tomato. This is a hefty sandwich enough for 2 meals unless you have a big appetite. I loved how soft the bread is on the inside and how everything is the right amount of spicy. The pile of meats can be a bit salty so I might go a different route next time but ultimately this was such a satisfying meal. One of the gems of Redwood City, perfect for your after Costco meal.
Small spot, big tortas. I got the cubana. Enjoyed the pickles and their bread is pretty good too.
After shopping at Costco in RWC, I wanted to try a local hole-in-the-wall. Searching on YELP wasn't helpful until I looked at the YELP map and clicked on the numbered restaurants in the area. My son is a big carnivore and he was delighted with his La Cubana torta. It has a variety of meat, but the menu is in Spanish so we don't know what kind of meat was in the torta. However he said he would definitely order it again. I had the Eva torta, based on reviews here, a simple beef torta. It was very good. I have a sensitive stomach and some greasy foods attack me. I am happy to report no problem with this torta. I love finding local places. We will definitely be back.
Don't expect burritos, enchiladas, or anything of that nature. However, they do make pretty good tortes. Check them out..
