I loved my experience here, the food is great and the seats are very comfortable. A small hiccup, the server forgot our popcorn during the movie but I can excuse this due to the otherwise wonderful movie/dining experience. View all feedback.
What Gerda Zemlak doesn't like about Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas San Mateo:
1st time i took the family here it had just opened we were one of the first ones inside to order popcorn and drinks and it took almost an hour the sever was apologetic but i put it down to just new and getting used to things fast forward 5 months later i take my daughter to watch a movie 2nd ones inside the theater order popcorn drinks and mini corn dogs for her it only took me 4 attempts calling the server and 20 minutes before the movie ended did she get her corndogs no apology no nothing not very professional just my opinion and some of my friends have had the same experience. Maybe ill be back in a few months to see if its changed stay tuned ?.
On our second visit, we brought my elderly mother to see Downton Abbey and spent $80 on concessions. I ordered a poke bowl and had to ask for a fork, as I didn't want to repeat the messy eating experience from our previous visit. The coffee was served in a very hot insulated carafe, causing my mom to almost drop it when she touched the side. The cleanliness of the space also needed attention, as we noticed a coworker had just left without cleaning up. When we asked for toilet paper at the bar, we were given black cocktail napkins. If we decide to visit the restaurant again, I will be sure to bring my own supplies. I realize now that I owe my mother an apology for giving her a hard time about the lack of napkins, as you never know when they will come in handy.
This is a great restaurant with a unique concept - you can order by pressing a button. The chairs are very comfortable, almost fully reclining. While the prices may seem a bit high, the experience is worth it. This was my second visit and I plan to come back again. The only downside was that one of the workers serving us was not wearing a mask.
The restaurant is a beautiful place, but if they are going to charge $20 for bottomless popcorn and drinks, they should actually provide timely refills. It took over 10 minutes to get someone to take a refill order, and then the refills never came. We tried to be patient, but after 20 minutes we pressed the button again and had to wait a long time for another server. We attempted to contact management to address the issue, but they never responded. We tried calling multiple times, but no one answered and the voicemail box was full. It seems they just ignore complaints altogether.
That's only the third time I'm here, but every time the experience has become worse. this last (and last) time, all loudspeakers at my appearance by doctor strange 2 began white lärm in the middle of the film. so loud that many had to leave their seat and cover their ears. 30 min to repair them and then leave. Even without this interference, the audio recording in this theatre is weak and the screens are dim. before this I was twice for my meal and had to wait 30 minutes after the movie to get a refund. before we got to eat 15 minutes before the end of the film. Three strikes and you're out. never come back and I suggest that they also avoid.
The cinema is great and very comfortable. The service is excellent with all the staff, who are super friendly and nice. The only concern I have is that the tables for placing the popcorn were dirty. Certainly the staff helped us cleaning them once we requested for it, but I believe it should be a very good practice (specially for the COVID-19 situation), to clean the tables after a show. Our show was the first one of the day for that particular room.
