Contribute Feedback What Tamara Farhat likes about Chicken Pho You:
My friends and I recently visited Gangnam Chicken for lunch. They had been there before, but it was my first time trying Korean chicken. The restaurant was clean, and the service was quick and efficient. We ordered several types of fried chicken along with a spicy BBQ pork dish, which happens to be my favorite Korean meal. I really enjoyed the fried chicken, especially the soy garlic flavor, although I felt it could... View all feedback.
What Quincy Stanton doesn't like about Chicken Pho You:
I wanted to eat something like pho, but was not pho and decided to try this place out. I got the chicken pho since it is on the sign (that’s not the real reason) and was excited to try it as they placed the bowl in front of me. The broth is pretty good. It has a light chicken flavor. The noodles were pretty good too. They were like thick silky rice noodles. The chicken on the other hand was horrible. It was not tende... View all feedback.
Hähnchenpho they took over the former happy café location in the inner city of san mateo. for those of you who remember happy caffe, it is a small room. not much to expect in terms of decoration. I don't think a lot has changed, including the sitting order. to eat, we ordered the big chicken soup with chicken-poor, clear burglar pot and roast pork, garnel with fried egg over rice. the waiter asked if the scourges and the zilantro on the chicken soup were good. we also ask the waiter to recommend a rice dish and she explains some of the popular and describes the ingredients and how they are prepared. After the arrival of eating she returned several times to check on us, for the first time to ask if the rice dish was to our pleasure, then I put her down to get something ginger and scalions sauce for the chicken, then fill our tee. she came back 2 times to check us out and make sure we had enough to eat before we returned with our bill. only the correct amount of attention. Authorized: the place was not packed. if they are the only waiting staff, and this was packed during the lunch break and the restaurant, maybe service can suffer a little; I can't say how this was my first time here. I saw some reviews that were the chicken broth on the side of the country. every pho place I go, I add extra sosse and chili to improve the taste, so this was not a problem. with the additional ginger sauce I requested for the huh, I found the chicken noodle dish very delicious. overall, eating was good enough to come back and service was beyond what I would expect from a Chinese/vietnamese restaurant.
It was not tender at all and I cringed every time I took a bite and only ate it because I needed the protein. We also tried one of the beef phos as well and it was alright. The broth had alright flavor, but it is not a place I would go to for this. Overall, it was alright. Only some aspects of the dishes are good.
I had the Pho #16 Combo. It was flavorless. So I assume powdered broth? The noodles were overcooked and falling apart. The bean sprouts on the side was soggy and warm. I will say that the tai beef came out pink like it is supposed to in the broth, and it was tender, and that the flank and tendon were tasty. Typical hole in the wall environment. It would be nice if they cleaned the hoisin and sriracha bottles, because they are a little sticky. Service was okay. Only one waitress, but she was attentive enough. Served complimentary tea.
Comparing to other Pho places around San Mateo , this would not be my top choice. Pho noodle is over cooked , meat is dry , spring roll has a strange smell, table rag is dirty , so the table smells, Dish bucket on the floor… I would go again…in very far future when above memory fade away.
A great reminder of what Hong Kong food was. I'm talking about the whole experience. After walking to the inside of the joint, it feels like I was back in HK. The chicken Pho, which is more like a Chinese style noodle soup, is delicious. We were a bit shocked of the pricing for what you got, but it is in downtown San Mateo. Check it out if you're cold and in the area.
