It's the seasonings that bring the smell of joy, and the ingredients: The taste of satisfaction, and the sound of food preparation mixed with conversations and laughter. Food has the power to unite, to celebrate, to build memories. It's the celebration of a special day, or something important, or not. Celebrating the everyday, the trivial. The connections that withstand time and don't break, and the new ones that emerge as a gift. It's the shared sacrament among people who care for each other. It's that feeling, service, hospitality, sustenance, time that has been donated. To satisfy hunger, you have to be together, it's honoring the commitment to not lose sight of each other. That's the seasoning repeated a thousand times, that people long to demonstrate as if they had never done it and never get tired.
