Even though the circumstances weren't ideal for my first visit to a bar, the friendly atmosphere contributed to my overall enjoyment, and I decided to give it a five-star rating. The food was delicious, and the place was bustling with a lively crowd. I tried their Bloody Mary, and it was fantastic!
The ambiance was really nice—not overly flashy, but I appreciated the retro vibe. I also want to mention the restroom,... View all feedback.

This is a classic college dive bar. It features a few pool tables that are functional, although they've definitely seen better days. The restrooms aren't particularly appealing, but they're serviceable. View all feedback.
Simply pass for an after-work beer, super cheap prices and friendly staff. Love the vibe, classic rock and pool tables. It's nice to be able to sit without music all the time. Can't wait to go back and try some of the foods
First, it's an old bar in an old building, the walls are discolored and the furniture came from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The place is full of wonderful character and history. The staff are super friendly and helpful the customers are old locals and regulars, veterans and blue collar folks who enjoy a laugh and a beer. The bar is hanging with the tankards of regulars since time immemorable and the jukebox is loud. The kitchen, a newer addition, is small and a little slow but the food is top notch. Excellent pub items like tacos and burgers that are fresh and hot. I love the spicy Border War burger or the amazing breakfast tacos. Top it all off with a cold beer or genuinely the best **** Mary I've ever had and go home happy. I love Showdown, it's been around since before I was born. It and it's patrons have been a part of my life in a good way since I was little. If recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good drink and burger and kind people.
Food is amazing!! Drinks simple, but abundant!! A cool hole in the wall in a college town, but none of the college crowd. Big for older night owl! Pinball, pool darts.
My favorite bar hands down! Food is always fresh and beer ice cold the owner is awesome we fo here at least once a month the jalapeños are bomb!
This bar felt like home the moment I walked in. It is a true dive bar with history literally written on the walls! The pictures posted create an aesthetic that no other San Marcos bar can compare to. The burgers are to die for as well!
