I've been making the drive to Hyuga for nine years now. While there are plenty of choices in the Carlsbad area, I always prefer this spot. In addition to their award-winning sushi, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The small sushi bar accommodates around five people, with a maximum capacity of about 15 to 20. The service is attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. You'll find interesting decor on every wall,... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hyuga Sushi:
Sushi was okay. The sizes of the reels were both smaller and more expensive than other Sushi restaurants around the area. The lighting was also very dim. Total good service. Wouldn't go back there because there are better places. View all feedback.
Excellent sushi! Without a doubt, one of the best in North County. You won't be let down!
I just started visiting this restaurant and it has been fantastic both times! It’s a small place with incredibly fresh ingredients. It’s now my go-to sushi spot in town, and I’ve tried them all! After five years, I can confidently say that Kura San is the best sushi chef in North County. Here’s a tip: bring a nice bottle of wine to share with the chef—great things happen when you do!
Best sushi in San Diego! Kuro consistently serves high-quality fish. The entire menu is fantastic, but definitely try the baked mussels and the oysters from the Honeymoon special. You can't go wrong with any item. Enjoy!
This is the best spot for Japanese cuisine overall. The sushi is more aligned with Japanese taste preferences rather than American ones. Food: 5/5.
As a college student, I can only afford to tip a small amount, and unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The owner took an exceptionally long time to bring my order – I received my sushi and ramen after my food was ice cold and my friend had already finished their meal. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, he yelled at me and seemed offended that I didn’t tip more for such poor service. Overall, I would rate this experience one star, with the food getting a 1 out of 5.
