I did not attend the school, but we went vacationing nearby and drove by the campus. It looks very new and nice. They have a lot of places to live and some nice restaurants and stores near the hub. I think they need more parking on the outskirts where the restaurants are. View all feedback.
What Jeremiah A doesn't like about Csusm Campus Coffee Cart:
I transferred here from MSJC and I can safely say that it is an absolute joke. The community college was Infinity cheaper and better. You won't actually learn or retain anything valuable here. It's ridiculous the state that our educational institutions are in, and this school perfectly personified everything wrong. Too expensive, professors are disengaged and put minimum effort into their courses for the most part...... View all feedback.

It's ridiculous the state that our educational institutions are in, and this school perfectly personified everything wrong. Too expensive, professors are disengaged and put minimum effort into their courses for the most part.... Just no. Everyday I come on this campus I'm annoyed with the situation in general. That's putting it lightly. Can't wait to transfer, luckily only have two weeks left until I'm gone.
Just a worthless diploma mill. They are more interested in taking your money than providing you with a quality education.
$600 to park for a year and there is no parking unless you park extremely far away and walk straight uphill. Got an email recently that they are tearing up one of the parking lots to build more housing because the state is paying for it. Just proves that it's not about you it's about the money you bring in. Academic advising is basically non existent outside of a few days a year. Housing is a joke, maintenance crews either completely ignore your request or are so understaffed that it takes weeks to fix the issues that seem to be common. there are only 6 maintenance workers for 3 buildings) I didn't have a shower for weeks and I know people who haven't had their Ac working for the entire semester. Good luck getting groceries when you have to park on the opposite side of Campus during the day or go shopping late at night since there is no designated parking for housing students. This school is a glorified community college. I had more class options at the CC I transferred from than I did here. I'm forced to take hybrid classes for my major taught by professors who clearly don't care because there are no other options and of course I'm still paying full price for a significantly worse education. I already applied to transfer out of this school. And I certainly recommended against people I know personally who were thinking of coming here
I came to CSU San Marcos for a post baccalaureate pre health program. The science department is solid!! There's have been professors that have been noble prize winners and there are still quite a few professors conducting research which can be detrimental for a student continuing on to some kind of medical school. The professors are experts in their subjects and push you to gain the most out of your college experience. The classes were not ray meaning no A's were just given to students they were earned. Top 10 reasons why I love this school! 1. Location the school is so beautiful and right off the freeway it is a super safe and clean environment compared to other colleges I've visited! 2. Cost and fees are low I was a military veteran so my costs were very minimal. I see a lot of students complaining about Peking fees or extra fees all CSU charge these fees and it's was less than private college.!!! I read a lot about the cost of parking my brother and I shared a parking permit and placed our class schedule on different days of the week so $334 a semester split between two wasn't that bad. We never had any difficulty finding parking at all. In addition if parking fees is an issue the dorms are within walking distance or use an electric bike or something else. It was really reasonable other schools charge way more. 3. Majors or minors San Marcos has quite a diverse selection. However, I was in a cohort and accepted into a college program so I was enrolled by the school into all my classes and our program came in together and graduated together. My brother is also a freshman with no issues ever getting into classes he needs. 4. Jobs on campus my brother and I both found jobs on campus to offset things like a parking permit. Honestly students need to stop being lazy if you're going to cry about the parking fee get a job and work like most students do even in the hardest programs. My brother works for the athletics department for the university sports and gyms and absolutely loves it and they teach the student so much. I work as a wok study for veteran affairs about veteran education benefits. 5. Athletics! Most games for students are free and I love sports I attended lacrosse, basketball, soccer, volleyball and baseball games! It was fun all getting together at the events and the teams are all high ranking majority of the time our college swept the other colleges!!!! 4. Campus life/ academic support they have tons of places for students to meet one another or study. The school is as inclusive as you want them to be if you stay in your dorm and say you can't find friends it's going to be more challenging than if you attend the college club committee and rush week to learn about programs they offer. Everyone I met as a student was nice and seeking friends! Be nice to people and get uncomfortable network and introduce yourself you never know what will happen one day you may own a business with someone! 3. According to the FBI and safety ranking online out of the U.S 490 colleges San Marcos is ranked #13 for the most safer college and I always felt that way. I was here early in the morning and late at night quite often. The campus always gave super safe and clean vibes. They have a police department on campus and patrol the university you can also always request to be escorted from your late night classes. I had a class end at 10:10pm and the campus police car was always parked near the parking lot to make sure students made it to their car safe. They go above and beyond for the safety of the students. I hope my children go here one day!! 2. Student organizations and community service is huge at this college. I again with the effort was on the board for two associations which is huge for my future. I also participated in the gender equity center and Latinx events. The college has opportunities for student to be a part of a college program or attendee. They have daily and weekly events and welcoming centers where you can come during the week normal working hours. Again students must put the effort in clubs seek members but it's also beneficial for students to seek clubs and Network. 1. 10/10 recommend I had the best college experience and professors. I would recommend this university to all fellow family and friends.!!!! Seriously a hidden gem!!!! I encourage students to tour the campus because it is absolutely beautiful and the labs and equipment and the class sizes! The salad sizes were about 15:1 and 25:1 for most of my classes!!!!!! Most universities charge way more and have way larger student ratios. If you're coming from a smaller school or private school or even public school the class ratios are amazing for the price tag.!!!!!!! Hope you choose this college like I did. Also being close to the beach and amazing weather all year long there is really not much more you could ask for or find anywhere else.
This school has a pretty campus but that 's not going to get you the job! It 's sad to say that I 've learned more from MiraCosta Community College. They actually have prerequisites that are required before advancing further unlike this University. I cannot believe I just typed that smh. I 'm in my last semester here thankfully. Not impressed with their AMD department. At all! I wanted to go to SDSU so bad but had too many hoops to jump through because I 'm not a local in SD and their graphic design department has a lot more experience and I didn 't want to be a guinea pig but here I am being one and it 's not okay! It 's 2023 and they need to get it together. I 've had advanced classes at MiraCosta in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop along with videography and html coding. I 'm in classes with people that have never used photoshop before but these classes are considered upper division, but why if people that don 't know how to use the applications can be in it, it 's a disservice to advanced students. Thankfully I 've learned a lot from MiraCosta as well as applied myself outside of school because just depending on this college to teach you how to be great at graphic design isn 't going to happen. Even a teacher from SDSU asked there really isn 't any pre reqs for this mind you it 's an animation class and many have never even used after effects or photoshop!!!! I 'm so damn confused on who has let this get so out of control! The graphic design class I had that they could have just given me the credits for, the teacher had them making interactive PDFs in Indesign for their portfolios but many if not all people in the class had never worked with inDesign before! Meanwhile you can create interactive PDF 's in canva in the the matter of minutes. He 's out of touch and so is this school I 'm so grateful I listened to my mom, saved money n went to community college first! This school is greedy as hell too! It 's $9 for a Venti smh, almost $4 for a soda from the machine smh it 's $650 a year to park there cus they want to keep building more useless classes that barely teach people anything but just send them on their way with an expensive certificate! I still feel bad for some cus they 're completely clueless as too what they haven 't learned! Don 't rely on any school/professor to teach you completely on what you need to do in order to further you career. I 'm currently in this physics class and the syllabus doesn 't even include the amount of points or how many homework assignments! No matter what passing grade I get I will be working with the department head and the Dean if need be to help future students with the lack of transparency in this class and from this school in general!
