Fire Power! Great tuna tacos! Well-balanced and perfectly crafted. All Costarican ingredients. Congrats to the chef. Very well done!
Second visit. This time for breakfast. Amazing again. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious. The traditional breakfast was also great with a decent portion size.Pie de limon: the best we have tried in the country. It offers an art exhibition so the ambiance is very pleasant to the eye.
Very good service and food quality. This time I visited for a brunch while being near its location and it turned out to be great again.
For reasonably priced, creative, gourmet food in San Jose, Costa Rica, go to La 22. Chef owner Orvieto Morales is also an artist whose culinary presentations are beautiful as his artwork adorning the brick lined walls. As soon as bread appears with a delicious chickpea dip, you discover Chef’s culinary magic. The tuna with a stuffed zucchini ‘bowl’ was accompanied by a memorable tomato sauce brightened with lemon peel. Fortunately for us, Chef discovered his diplomat father’s amazing sauce recipes, and each dish benefits from these special touches. The lamb special and shrimp risotto were instant hits. The freshness and bright flavors of the entire meal attest to the Chef’s numerous connection with farmers, fishermen and butchers. Plus, many items are gluten free, including desserts. Chef Orvieto often serves the food to get acquainted with guests. No wonder La 22 has a regular following from locals and visits from hungry tourists!
