What User doesn't like about The Fish Market San Jose:
Since this is the Fish Market , I hoped there would be more wild caught fish. Instead, they emphasize fresh fish, implying (I assume) never frozen. I would also expect more of a variety of fish that I can 't get in just about any grocery store. That was disappointing, especially considering the entree prices. But my wife and here sister enjoyed their dishes more than I did mine. Linguine clams was not as advertised L... View all feedback.
We enjoy the extensive menu and fresh fish offered at the Fish Market. A reliable restaurant for good food.
Ordered: New England clam chowder; Shrimp Tacos; scallops wrapped with prosciitto; fish and chips; shrimp and chips. Shrimp tacos were great. Fish and chips mediocre; Shrimp and chips was vey disappointing because they were over cooked. Coleslaw that accompanied the shrimp and fish dishes were dry and tasteless, almost none edible. Scallops wrapped with prosciutto looked over cooked and was over cooked. Tried to give them away, but no takers. This is my fourth visit to this establishment but yet one of the visit was fulfilling.
Horrible service. Waiter did not know menu or how to serve. I had to show him on the menu that they did indeed have bottled water. Checked in on us every 5 minutes because I’m sure he messed up with the table next to us. We could hear complaints to a manager. We barely finished dinner and he brought us the bill! Didn’t offer us coffee or dessert!!!! Food was delicious! But service can make or break an evening!
We had reservations but still had a long wait to be seated. We were seated in a corner away from the main crowd. Our service was not responsive and the soup took 30 minutes and was warm. Dinner took a long time and was cold when it was dropped off. When I couldn’t find our waitress I complained and the manager came to the table. We waited a long time but they finally brought another dinner. It wasn’t hot off the grill, but was warm enough. They didn’t charge us for the dinner. We won’t eat here again, it was New Years Eve and the experience was exhausting.
We celebrated New Year’s Eve at the Fish Market. We got seated where I had requested. We didn’t have any appetizers as we opted to have dessert instead. The crab was amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was that it took a very long time to get our dessert about 30 minutes. I love the fresh fish here and the variety!
