We roasted it, ground it, and made a delicious drink. It was quite bitter, but in my opinion, it tasted great. If you prefer it sweeter, they also provide honey. I had a fantastic experience at this celiac-friendly tour! They provide a detailed explanation of the history of cocoa in Mayan culture. During the tour, you have the opportunity to sample a cocoa bean directly from the fruit, taste it roasted, watch as they grind it and turn it into a drink. The drink itself is quite bitter, but I personally enjoyed the taste. If desired, they offer honey to sweeten it. It was a wonderful experience, naturally gluten-free, and all for just $12 USD.
