Cucina casalinga, buona ma non giustifica i prezzi elevati. Un antipasto di terra, una fetta di torta, un cinghiale in umido, una bottiglia di vino, due patatine fritte, due biscotti cantucci con vino santo, un caffè, una grappa. 62 euro!
Excellent food and tucked away in a forest. We hiked up the backside and enjoyed a massive feast with 1.5 liters of wine for an about $23 a person. Only speak Italian so be prepared, but well worth the journey! Don’t want to miss it
This restaurant is up the mountain after a tricky drive through a series of hairpin turns. But good rustic, hearty Italian food awaits at the top. Not translation friendly for those who don't understand at least restaurant/menu Italian. The pastas that the members of our group had were very good. The main dishes of rabbit, wild boar, etc. were excellent-very tasty. Friendly service. Good house wine.
A Tuscan friend recommended this place as the nearest thing to the old days still to be found in the area. The good things about it are the location, cool and breezy on a stiflingly hot day, and the nice, old fashioned, no nonsense forthright Tuscan ladies who run it. And the house red is excellent for wine on tap. Sadly, the food is just good but nothing special. Probably if we 'd eaten like this in, say, Manchester, we 'd have thought wow, this is so authentically Italian , but in Tuscany itself we 've eaten far better home cooking (and just to be clear, I loathe nouvelle cuisine, chic hot air nonsense so I 'm not complaining that the food wasn 't sophisticated enough by any means in fact it was a pleasure to eat off real. solid round plates again! . But the worst thing was the bill: not only did the four of us have two antipasti, two primi, to secondi, one contorno and a half litre of wine, thus in effect only two full meals but the bill came to 80 euros, which means 40 a head for a full meal and that is frankly way higher than you 'd expect to pay for standard meat (no fish well away from the coast, AND they charged us for 1.5 litres of wine probably an honest mistake, but all the same!!! Anyway, worth trying once but only if you 're looking for somewhere to cool down on a hot day.
