What User doesn't like about Rincon Colonial:
Not only are the staff seemingly upset you're there, they use their bare hands to scoop ice into glasses for cocktails. Also, when I paid for my one beer, I was not brought any change...what the hell? At least bring back the change to give me the option to tip rather than forcing the issue. The sanitation was horrible and the service couldn't even be called service. If you go, make sure to order a beer without any fr... View all feedback.
We came here for an afternoon drink and were pleasantly surprised when you order drinks you also get tapas. The drinks were cheap and the food was great. This is a neat place to come to right by the old wall.
My friend and I popped in here for a cold beer after wandering around Campeche. With the beer, we were also served three plates of tapas. We weren't sure how much they would cost us but we hadn't had lunch so we figured we'd eat them. With the second beer order, out came three more plates! Turns out the food was completely free! We were the only gringos in the place but we're made to feel so welcome by staff and local patrons alike. A couple of beers evolved into tequila shots and an amazingly fun and local experience. Would love to go back!
If you are looking for a real Mexican cantina experience, then push through the swinging saloon doors like you 're entering the Long Branch Saloon looking for Miss Kitty. This cantina has in fact been used in a movie called Original Sin with Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas. We were the only non-locals in the bar. But we were made to feel welcome. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks before heading out to dinner. I ordered a rum and tonic, but my wife watched as the bartender instead grabbed a vodka bottle and poured my drink. It seemed that the bar staff had been sampling a fair amount of their inventory before we arrived which might have led to the confusion. So I drank the vodka and tonic (which was good) and enjoyed the ambiance of a real cantina among the locals.
As close to a dive bar as you'll get. Drinks are not cheap but come with a variety of botanas, some of which we were unable to recognize. Efficient staff who seemed friendly enough. Good place to stop in for a drink.
