Visit on Tuesdays for $1 and $2 tacos! They're really delicious, but be prepared for a wait of around 15 minutes to get your food, even if the place isn't too crowded. The drinks are quite good as well. View all feedback.
What Alexandre Benoit doesn't like about Wooden Nickel:
The food is great, and they offer a taco discount on Tuesdays. The atmosphere is decent, with outdoor seating available and a pool table. The food is reasonably priced, though the drinks are a bit pricier than anticipated. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We sat at the bar and were ignored for about eight minutes, even though it wasn't busy at the time. View all feedback.
Very nice bartenders both times! Slushies! Oh yea!!!! Cool decor. Outdoor seating even before corvid paranoia i imagine. Yay
Simple neighborhood bar with a pool table and food.
There are 7 words you can 't say on tv. (Republican rule) one of those words is Jamaica (apparently pronounced Ha-Mike-ah at Wooden nickel). The wooden nickel is the definition of snowflake. Literally got told to leave for pronouncing a drink called Jamaica as...Jamaica. (Of course by accident but was told as a minority I should 've not first thought of bob marley instead of a flokelorish Azteca tea apparently) This place is the reason votes don 't go to the right place in this city, and it 's extremely toxic. Bar tender with a pony tail and glasses is the ring leader of the snowflake cultural nazis it seems. This place is lucky to have survived covid. There 's nothing special about throwing cumin season onto tater tot 's, there 's nothing special about a mezcal drink seasoned with tajin. If you want something special that actual brings culture to this city, go to Trick Dog for food and a cocktail. Places like this is what keeps San Francisco dangerously toxic and full of bums.
Cool chill bar with yummy tots and a pool table! Can't go wrong with this neighborhood spot.
The Wooden Nickel, somewhat randomly, has the best San Diego-style Mexican food I've come across in the Bay Area. If you have a craving for Carne Asada Fries or a California burrito, this is the place for you.
