Came on a weekday 8pm and there was no wait for our group of 3. We were attended to quickly and our food came quickly.This was my first beef karage and it's definitely not as good as some good chicken karage but it was certainly interesting. What Cyrus Ghaznavi doesn't like about Ushi Taro:
Ordered the shio ramen, which should be a salt/seafood based broth that is clear, but what came out was clearly a pork bone based broth (tonkotsu). The nodoles were undercooked and kinked, likely not fresh. Instead of bamboo shoots they used mushrooms, which were a little overpowering in terms of flavor. I dream about this food. I drive 3 1/2 hours to go to San Francisco and this is the only place I will eat. My favorite is the Oxtail tomato soup. I tried bone marrow for the first time and I am hooked!!!!
One odd a few beef based ramen spots in the bay area. The flavors are rich and savory. The bone marrow is a great touch of smoothness. The noodle were fine but not the top tier of ramen noodles I've had. The fried mushrooms were excellent! The service was great, they stayed open a little later to make sure we could get our order. Prices were high in typical San Francisco fashion, but I would recommend if your a ramen addict. Traveler and Adventurer IG @brian.dent
Bone marrow and spicy ramen are great- they use good quality meat Unfortunately these days the broth has gotten much thinner
Ahhhhh Maaa Zing! I moved here a year ago and some how let this gem slip by. Best Ramen dishes BAR NONE!! THE BROTHS ARE SUPREME!
I came here when I wasn't feeling well and their broth brought me back to life. The flavor of the broth was incredible! It wasn't too salty..had good earthy, savory, and subtle sweet notes. The noodles were perfect, had just the right amount of chew. I like my egg a little more jammy versus runny, but that's a personal preference I should have communicated. It came with the right amount of meat and mushroom balance. The server was very friendly and attentive.
