We've been staying at the Orchard since 2013, and it's the only place we'll choose in town. The rooms are excellent, the staff is friendly, and the location is fantastic. View all feedback.
A well located hotel with everything you would need for a short stay in San Francisco. Good size, clean and comfortable room. Efficient check in and check out process. Games room and cafe on site but we did not use. Only negative was the noise coming from the street outside especially the street cleaning at 4am.
We have such a good time at san francisco this time. the hotel we stay at was perfect as well. it was quiet and nice. help us boost our energy for the fun we have. we like the convenient locations and rock n roll vibe gives it that extra ummm. the star of the place as actually the front desk lady name Princess and her coworker LA. They are super friendly and so helpful. Princess made us feel like we were treated like KING and QUEEN hehe.
After reading some other reviews on TripAdvisor I was in 2 minds whether to stay here or not, however I took a chance, lots of reviews mentioned a “funky smell” in the rooms/corridors, in all honestly I never smelt anything funky. On check in Victor told me I was all paid up and good to go, he then advised he’d upgraded my room (317 the room looked on to blank walls on 3 sides and would have constantly needed a light on, in addition and to me the most important thing, this happened to be behind the lift and so my room seemed to constantly vibrate and as I suffer with BPPV (a form of vertigo I knew I couldn’t stay in that room for the duration of my trip. I had put this in the special requests form from Expedia so to give them the benefit of the doubt perhaps Expedia hadn’t passed this information on. I spoke with Corinne next morning and straight away she allocated a new room in the 2nd tower to get there involved changing lift and following the arrows to another lift and going up to whatever floor. Even though this room (642 overlooked Post Street is was very quiet, larger and had much better natural light than my original room. Rooms are comfortable and room decor is San Francisco music inspired. The hotel is about 2 3mins walk to Union Square and you need to use your room key to access the hotel so I felt very safe. Now the unacceptable part, they will request a credit card and hold a $100 deposit per night for “incidentals” which I personally thought was a bit steep especially as Victor told me I was all paid up. I couldn’t really see what “incidentals” you would incur. I advised him that whilst I was keeping the room and had paid for it I would be in Las Vegas for 3 days and he agreed to “only” take $500 deposit instead. My room wasn’t serviced everyday I had to ask on the 2 occasions it was done. I could have lived with that but for the fact when I went to check out I was told I still owed almost $400 for hotel/room amenities such as the games room (which as a single female held no interest for me, apart from taking a picture of the peace sign they have in there, wi fi, fridge, nespresso machine and the small bottle of water that was left. Given that wi fi is expected in hotels now I have never paid to use the wi fi for the last several years and that includes other hotels in San Francisco, if an nespresso machine and fridge are advertised as being in the room with no fee listed then you shouldn’t be then charged for it and as for the water, there was a large bottle with a label saying it was $5 so I didn’t use that and used the one (again advertised as part of the room as I assumed it was free and as my room was only serviced twice then I only had 3 bottles and used 8 coffee pods what next a fee for using the lift instead of stairs? Again Corinne tried to help as the other receptionist was very surly and refused to move on the charges, Corinne spoke to Victor and he agreed the 3 days worth of charges for my trip to Las Vegas could be removed, however that still left over $220 to pay. Interesting later that day whilst waiting for my Uber to take me to the airport Victor came into reception and given he had be part of a discussion with Corinne about me I would have thought he would have come over to speak to me but he just ignored me leading me to suspect he knew they were in the wrong over the charges. After departure I was sent a survey by the hotel and I have repeated there what I’ve said here so it will be interesting to see if I receive a reply, I think not. I have also contacted Expedia as to why these fees were not disclosed at time of booking (I also booked my Las Vegas trip with them and that confirmation included additional fees so why not the San Francisco one?? It is such a shame as the hotel is in a good location and as previously mentioned the fact that you had to use your room key to gain access is a good safety feature I liked the quirkiness of it but I don’t like to be ripped off.
I had a great time checking in at the hotel because of Princess made sure I have a good room. I love the location and Princess was very professional upon check in and during our stay. The rooms are great.
Reception girls are awesome, cute and kind. immediately put in a good mood! in particular we had to deal with Corine and her colleague from the same shift, thanks for making us smile. the hotel is modern and cool, the games room is great and the location is perfect. Thank you!
