While many patrons commend the well-prepared meals and friendly staff, consistent quality remains a point of contention. Some dishes, such as the soggy bread pudding and overly dressed Caesar salad, failed to impress, while others, like the margherita pizza and tomato soup, received praise. The bakery items, especially the croissants, are highlighted as exceptional, though other menu offerings have garnered mixed reviews. Although the service can be slow during busy times, the overall experience suggests potential for delightful dining.
Generally, Tartine is pretty good. Here, it's still good, but I found that the pastries I got were kinda colder than the original location. Might just be luck. However, the line is definitely shorter, so that's an advantage. Definitely still recommend visiting this one! Try to get the Morning Bun; I think that's what they're known for.
Cute place and it should have been a great place. However the food wasn’t great. The Ceaser Salad for example was drenched in dressing and the chix on top was rubbery and way too salty. My partner said the scone wasn’t very good either and pretty bold that they charged us $1.50 for a little side of butter. That said, the tomato soap was delicious. At these prices, the quality should be a little more consistent.
Came in hungry ordered the breakfast sandwich. Watched other people’s food come out large and enticing. My breakfast sandwich came out small, plain and slapped together. If you’re hungry, this is pretty small and a bit expensive for what it is. Most of the cost of the sandwich is for rent and employee salary not the actual food.
Incredibly overpriced for what it is. The place is fine and the food is just fine but we paid $42 $37 without the tip) for 2 egg sandwiches and 1 chocolate croissant, all of which, were just okay, and not particularly big. The egg sandwiches are probably 2 eggs, with a bit of mayo and arugula on a brioche bun and for $13.50 id expect there to be some meat. The brioche bun was a bit dry. The chocolate croissant left something to be desired, mostly that flaky buttery goodness you expect from a typical croissant. Used to love their egg salad sandwich but they took off the menu. We don't have a reason to go back now.
In a city of great bakeries that rivals any other in the US, Tartine, in my estimation makes the flakiest, truest to form, proportioned croissants and pains au chocolat. Very high quality. But don’t sleep on the other offerings. Order ahead can get quite busy quite quickly at peak hours.
