Had a Hanker for a real taco. After I just returned from a month in Mexico, my expectations were low. We were not disappointed. The place was also very busy at 3 in the afternoon. We tried the chicken, pig and keviche tacos. All were excellent. The green and red salsas had to be my favorites in a very long time. I could drink it. For what I know. I tried the Boss Super Burrito Shrimp Al Pastor, and it was the best burrito I've ever had! It's a small, cash-only place, but totally worth it. Plus, the staff is wearing masks, which is reassuring! At $18, the portion is huge—definitely enough for two meals for me.
Two words. Super quesadilla. As for salsa, go with both green and red and don't bother pouring or dipping, just sip on it after taking bites. That quesadilla was so delicious and was worth having to deal with trying to find parking and the smell of dried **** blowing through the open front door of the restaurant. I'm glad I don't live in SF because I'd be eating at that place too often and would end up with high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
El Farolito (Lighthouse) guiding light...... Translation for damn good Mexican food. 2779 Mission Street is one of the old school Mission District Taqueria's. The quality of the food has been consistently great for the 20+ years that I have been visiting for food. The interior has 6 branch seats but the Taqueria now has outdoor seating which is great. The menu is diverse and you can do a made to order. The parking is a challenge as well as the entryway due to the open air sidewalk market. Aside from the environment, the food and service is 5 stars.
Craving Mexican food? Great Late night spot! Excellent burritos!
I had a craving for an authentic taco. After spending a month in Mexico, my expectations were quite low, but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was bustling even at 3 PM. We ordered the chicken, pork, and ceviche tacos, and all of them were fantastic. The green and red salsas were among the best I've had in a long time; I could honestly drink them. One of the saddest things to come from the COVID restrictions for me has been the loss of salsa bars.
