What User doesn't like about Prairie Grocery:
The servers were very friendly, but the restaurant seemed under-staffed for the Friday night crowd. A part of our order got lost in the shuffle and arrived only after a long wait, which seemed to be due to a communication issue with the kitchen, despite the server's sincere apologies. The noise level was quite unbearable; there were hard surfaces and loud patrons everywhere, and the seating was extremely cramped. Add... View all feedback.
Great restaurant for “new Italian” cuisine. The tortellini and burrata were my favorite dishes that we ordered. They also charge a 18% service fee on the bill, but don’t expect a tip
A great addition to the dining scene, Prairie gives a modern twist to Italian cuisine which has become somewhat tiresome of late with all the cookie cutter Cal-Italian places out there. Started with the Italian greyhound cocktail which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. The burrata on toast was lovely as well as the pappardelle with beef cheeks. The server commented that it's a modern take on beef stroganoff which I had to agree with. Finally the beef short ribs were just as good as I expected. I could have eaten a huge stack of them. I'll be coming back, hopefully often
The chicken legs are so tasty! Also, the burrata and the fish roe dish there is some kind of homemade cracker that is unreal! Lots of windows make for a really nice setting I went with a girlfriend but would be perfect for a date.
Cool, hip spot with good food and drinks. Octopus and steak were well prepared and tasty.
Highly recommend to come here! The cuisine feels like modern Italian than traditional Italian and every dish we had was delicious. I like that it's casual, homey and not expensive. Definitely a place to go more than once. Come with a group of people so you can try multiple dishes. it's not easy to get a reservation for a big group so book in advance. MUST GET: burrata appetizer, guanciale wrapped mochi, rice cakes pasta (tastes kind of like Chinese sticky rice cakes 炒年糕, papperdelle (any that they have! We got the mushroom one since we had someone vegetarian at the table but they also have a beef cheek one). The cod fish collar with fried capers was a new dish and it was amazing! Also don't forget to get some veggies get the romaine lettuce salad! DONT GET: nothing was bad (so far)! They also have really good cocktails, so don't miss out on that!
