I absolutely adore this place. Their cakes are organic, not too sweet, and definitely fresh and airy. Did i mention it was a small business owner too? This is 200% my go-to spot. Every cake I've got from here has been delish. The most recent one being the Triple Citrus Cake which was to-die for. Honestly, I get these cakes for birthdays but really should just come to get a cake just because lol. Everyone come here to... View all feedback.
What missy d doesn't like about Whole Cakes Soma:
Got the Earl Grey with peach cake but extremely disappointed. The cake has no (not even a hint) of earl grey. The cream was dense and with overpowering cheesy smell and sour. There was no peach. Too much cream and not enough cake. Flavor was way off and not sweet at all. Would love to support small business but quality is too disappointing to warrant a return. View all feedback.
Love their cakes, banana bread, whole wheat chocolate chip cookie, shortbread cookies. But the first time trying their dark chocolate almond macaron was a big disappointment. It was very dry and hard to eat like it had sat out for days and became stale. There were barely any chocolate filling.
Not sure if it is due to inflation, but their slice gets thiner and thiner. Not worth the price.
Nice presentation. However, the taste of the cream on the cake resembles creams made from hydrogenated fats with a weird after taste. For a cake that costs $46 I would expect some higher quality cream, opposed to some $3 cake wedges sold at random bakery. Also, I don't understand why the lady answering the phone needs to be so judemental about my accent? From whence come the necessity of the condescending sarcasm when she herself is clearly not a native speaker of English? And then hang up on me? I will refrain from making any psychoanalytic comments here and congratulate the lovely lady for her superb achievement in social etiquette. Truly impressive. When we came to pick up the cake, the lady package the cake keeps on wiping her nose with her hands. While I paid for a bag when ordering the cake over the phone, she didn't give me a bag until I asked. (Even then, she appeared skeptical at first, not to mention that I paid 50 cents for a paper bag that should sensibly and easily be complimentary.
Owner went out of her way to help me since I was from out of state and needed a cake for my wife while visiting. The owner is genuinely a good person and runs a good business. Cake was absolutely delicious and fresh. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Go here if you are looking for a good, local bakery. Support family owned businesses!
