Not the same Tartine that I remember when I went to school in The Bay Area while back. Nostalgic and it is a delicious pastry in comparison to what I can get back at home. Still nice to bring the pastries and enjoy the sun at Dolores park. View all feedback.
What Michael Wheeler doesn't like about Tartine Bakery:
Good bread for a high price. Tartine didn't used to have the local competition that it does now, and for $14 a loaf, there are much better alternatives in the Mission, Noe Valley, and beyond. View all feedback.

I don’t know why this place is so popular, but my morning bun was not fresh and Ice latte was not good
This bakery is definitely one of the most popular in the whole SF but there are couple of things makes me take one star out. 1. No air conditioning or just good ventilation which makes eating their pastries in Dolores park the only option (if the weather permits). 2. Some of the pastries are pretty bland (like banana cream which is just sweet and fat heavy or lemon coconut cake which is more on a bread side and could be more moist) So it almost always hit or miss for me with trying something new at this place. But there are obvious reasons why I keep coming and trying. Everything is super fresh. Lines are common but move quickly. Amazing Country bread. Location.
Parking: It is very hard to find parking! Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome. There is not a lot of seating so taking food to go might be better!
Whenever we are in SF, or even passing through, we always make the stop by Tartine. There have some of the best pastries and every time we have tried new items as well as old, they have not disappointed. Some of our favorites are the banana cream tart, lemon tart, hazelnut tart, croissants, and cakes. Their bread is baked fresh daily so if you’re not “carb-ed” out, try some! There is always a line, so be ready for a wait.
