They refreshed their menu and only have soupless ramen now, abura soba. I was a bit skeptical as I'd never tried it before, but I was blown away.I got the classic Tokyo Style Abura Soba. The noodles are perfectly chewy, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. It comes with extra oil on the side, which punched it up even more. You can get a side of chicken soup if you want, but I would say it's probably not needed. The... View all feedback.
What Ale doesn't like about Jikasei Mensho:
I used to like this shop for their Ramen but now they only have Aburasoba (dry Ramen) and which is disappointing.. The noodle quality is great but I don't like the oil to put in. This is flavorless but just oily and I got bored with eating after a few bites. I wouldn't be opposed to Aburasoba but I hope they bring regular Ramen back. View all feedback.
The menu online does not match the menu at the kiosk. There are several ramens on the online menu, but only two ramens with broth at their kiosk. Disappointing. The rest of the offerings at the kiosk are dry ramens without any broth. They call soba “abura soba” which is just the same ramen noodles as their broth based ramen. It is not buckwheat soba.Service is basic. Not friendly nor unfriendly.
Came here and ordered the spicy ramen during my lunch break. This place is located inside the marketplace, and there is a decent amount of seating. I ordered from a kiosk, and there was no one at the counter until someone brought out bowls for customers. All dine-in and take-out orders are served in a thin plastic bowl, which was scalding hot to the touch when I was carrying it to my seat. The ramen was fresh and chewy and the chashu was tender, however it was not worth the price point of $20. I thought the amount of toppings were just okay. It probably would've been better with an egg. I was unsure if the broth had a lot of peppercorn flavor or if the numbing I felt from eating this ramen was from a peanut allergy, so make sure you do not make the mistake that I did and ask if there are any allergens. Overall, it was fine, but nothing to rave about.
Really good quality food and noodles. Delicious vinegar on the side too. Only complaint is it's not a huge portion for $20 and other competitors rival in their portions. Great ambiance and outdoor seating in Twitter's HQ
For a quick ramen craving, this is the spot. It's no frills, as you order at the counter and pick it up on your own. Kinda like mall food court style! However muuuch better quality than food court food. I will say it is more expensive that food court food though! Mensho ramen is always amazingly chewy and al dente, it's my favorite thing. I always appreciate that their vegan ramen is on par if not better than the meat option.
Incredible ramen! Easily the best in SF.Edit: Came back a year later, still the best ramen I’ve ever had. HIGHLY recommend!!!!
