Really great service and vibe! The wine was wonderful but the star was the pizza. My friend and I opted for the tavern pizza and I was extremely glad we did because the crust was thin and crispy and the flavor combination was extremely delicious. It paired nicely with their red wines. Would definitely come back in the near future. View all feedback.

Sad to say, Fig and Thistle used to be this charming gem in an alley way, now it's taken up ownership with Outtasight Pizza on Gough (I don't really understand the arrangement and it's unclear when you go in) It's a cute place with nice evening ambience BUT here's the problem: A friend and I went there for just a drink at the bar and were charged an automatic 20% gratuity! Intimate and friendly atmosphere with solid wine options and good bites! Staff is super welcoming as well.
Good spot for a happy hour, 4:30-6pm. Easy seating inside and pretty chill vibes. Happy hour menu has house wine $10) and margherita pizza $20). Marinated olives were the highlight, and French fries were pretty good too. It is not the best pizza or wine I've ever had, but it'll do for a low key group meet up without a reservation.
My favorite spot in the Hayes Valley! I stopped by here after a concert at Davies or if I'm just in the area. Great vibes, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent selection of wines that are not easy to find. I've yet to try the pizza but give me the chorizo anytime! Plus the house dog Brautigan is super cute. Go!

So 2 drinks that should have been a decent price (and would have added a tip) were now $45 for 2 teeny glasses of wine. Not OK. Even though I'm not a huge fan of auto gratuity in general, I get it for a meal, but not for alcohol only. While this may sound petty, it's not, it's the principle that drinks, which are already marked up 25% and one easy order vs. food and anything complex. I won't be going back there anymore.
This venue is petite, I've taken my parents and a small group of coworkers. I can talk endlessly with wine makers and farmers. I've always felt cozy here. It's never pretentious
