This is a nice little Vietnamese spot that is super convenient for lunch. The sandwich options are great and I really like the 5 spice chicken and combo sandwich. The presentation within is excellent with neat layers of carrots, cucumbers. They ask you if you want jalapenos, everything else is default. The taste and flavors were good. Not many seating spots for dine-in especially during the busy lunch hour. View all feedback.
What Alexander Tenette doesn't like about Bun Mee:
On the pricey side with a gentrified twist of banh mi. You don 't find some of the popular OG banh mi here and it 's probably rightfully so to meet the taste for the demographic of the area. Even the menu names are a bit Americanized Order the steak banh mi that comes with a side of pho broth. Love having broth to drip banh mi into as it softens up the baguette but didn 't worry about that here as the bread wasn 't t... View all feedback.
The pork bánh mì was pretty tasty and exceeded my expectations which are pretty low for these types of places. Too much carrot and needs more cilantro for my taste. It was my first visit and I'm very picky about my Vietnamese food like I have to drive 40+ miles to get some good Vietnamese food. I didn't realize it didn't already include pate which for $8 it should. I can get bigger sandwiches in Little Saigon San Jose for half the cost but, of course, it's a long drive forme. Would I come back probably but only during their happy hours 3-6 pm in which these sandwiches are a more reasonable $5 and beer only $3.50.

The location of this place is definitely convenient to public transit and many offices in the city, so it seems like a common lunch spot. They have vegan options, including as far as I can tell, the tofu bahn mi and eggplant bahn mi (substituting soy mayo). I got the tofu bahn mi through MealPal and it appears to be the normal size, which is nice, and the sandwich itself was good. It doesn't seem like a traditional Vietnamese place, but I don't have a problem withthat. The sauce used was a little too sweet for my taste, partly because the carrots already add a good amount of sweetness, but the tofu was sufficiently crispy and flavorful. I also liked that the bread wasn't too thick (it may have beenhollowed out) so the tasty inside of the sandwich were more noticeable. I definitely appreciate the spice of the jalapenos, but it is something to consider if you don't enjoy spicy food. I have to give this four stars because Dinosaurs, which has a few locations in the city and serves similar food, just does a better tofu bahn mi in my opinion. Their tofu is shredded and fried to create a wonderful texture that is more interesting than just marinating it. In any case, thesandwich packaging here (shown in the attached photos) was noticeably well-designed aesthetically. Too many places have succumbed to using a plain white paper or similar, so this was an added touch that made the food feel a tiny bit morepremium.
Quick and friendly service. The sandwich (lemongrass pork was what I expected, very fresh and overall tasty. I asked someone waiting if they?ve eaten here before, and they said everyday : I just had the one item but if it?s what you get I suspect you?ll agree.
Overall, pretty disappointed for a $10 sandwich. I was originally going to Cafe Dolci, but they had run out of banh mi. I quickly looked up a place and chose here. I noticed the outdoor seating and the trendy decor. I went in and immediately saw the difference in pricing listed on yelp. Sandwiches were $9+ and other items were more expensive. I saw they have a happy hour from 3pm-6pm, where sandwiches were $6, but for dine in only. It seemed pricey, but a lot ofpeople were eating here after 2pm, so it can't be that bad. I ordered the five spice chicken sandwich and it came to be $10 total. I waited about 10 minutes before it came out. The sandwich was so small for the price I paid. I guess Ishould have expected this, since it is in the heart of the financial district and on market street. The sandwich was ok. I'm not sure why but half of it was spicy?? The bread was super toasted and extremely crunchy. The chicken seemed to bea little greasy, but not that much sauce. I was pretty disappointed in this sandwich for the price. I felt that the sandwich was small and only okay. I might come here for their happy hour prices, but most likely will not come back.
