Was Yasmeen R at Akna a mag?
The food here is fantastic! I shared a variety of dishes, and the ceviche was exceptional. The tortillas were delightful, but my personal favorite was the octopus dish—highly recommended! The staff were also really friendly. It's a great spot for gluten-free options, and I will definitely be returning! The music was nice as well. View all feedback.
Nice place, good food, and casual vibe. Been to lunch here twice and enjoyed both times. The Chicharron are freshly made and very crunchy. I do enjoy their shrimp dishes, so been ordering that in different variations. They have inside and outdoor seating though I'm a tad nervous to sit outdoors because this area of Hayes Is very busy with lots of cars passing by.
Stumbled across this restaurant after a trip to see the SF Ballet. I usually go into analysis paralysis before choosing a restaurant, but under duress, took a chance on this place, and so glad we did! Loved everything we ordered that I tried: pescado al mojo de ajo (pan seared fish tacos) crispy fish taco camarones al mojo (shrimp taco, best I've ever had) fondu de la casa (cheese, chorizo and beans) buñuelos (delicious dessert) Delicious food. Kid friendly (they graciously made our daughter an off menu plain quesadilla though she ended up eating a side of rice instead). Clean, airy, casual environment. Appropriately spaced out. Properly enforcing COVID regulations, like vaccine proof. Friendly, unpretentious staff.
First time at Akna and I enjoyed the casual, order ahead set up. It's open seating and you're able to order right from your table on your mobile device, or walk up to the counter if your old school like me. The waiter-less design is refreshing when every other restaurant in hayes valley requires a reservation a week in advance. Perfect for lunch or a quick bite. While the design isn't anything fancy, the food is actually great. The beef and pork tasted like the were slow cooked for days. Will be back to try more. Akna is replaced by my beloved Barcino (previously Boxing Room), all owned and ran by the same family company.
Love this place, I go frequently. The tacos are great, burritos are awesome, and the plates are all great too. I’ve never had a meal I didn’t love here. Also the drinks are A !
Delicious food from Yucatán! We had the tacos de cochinita, fish tacos and one tamal. The tacos are made with fresh ingredients, homemade tortillas, and the portions are very generous. The food is very authentic. They have sopa de tortilla on the menu, one of my favorites! They also have a great choice of cocktails and arguas de sabores. The staff was very nice, and gave us a warm welcome. My only regret is that I couldn’t try the whole menu. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you!
